It's still weird seeing the changes to Shigure, Yuki and Tohru's designs. Shigure now has grayish eyes and not as black hair, Tohru now has brown eyes and more chopped straight bangs and Yuki's hair looks more bleached
Comedy-wise old furuba is better for me. The punchline and aho boke is stark and fast. The OST and background music clenched your hurt till this day (maybe because of the nostalgia it brings though..) But the new ones is what the author wants and of course I love it as well but old furuba have it's own irresistible charm.
I find the new one more heartwarming. There is this good and warm feeling in my heart after I watched every episode. There were also episodes that made me cry but still feel good after. I also love the art style and voice acting of the current one (2019) It has the same feels when I watched the animes Natsume Yuujinchou, Kimi ni Todoke, and Hotarubi no Mori e
I prefer the old version. It has more soul, better direction and musical timing, the old art is better to me and the nostalgic directorial style is so wonderful. The jokes just “hit” in the old one, the sad scenes also hit more. I love the full story and the new anime is amazing too, but I feel there was more care going into the longevity and flow of the old one, and the modern style of the new one feels empty. Just because an image has more lines, doesn’t make it better. The old had better use of color, a distinct artistic “Fruits Basket” style you could recognize from a mile away, while the new one looks stylistically stale and “basic” for a majority of the series. I genuinely find the old illustrations more appealing. It looked identical to the manga! I dislike the later art style in the last parts of the manga. It seemed like the animators had a better grasp on how to make movement look “satisfying” in the old one as well. When you compare the exact same movements, the new ones anatomy/movement feels off. Sorry if my thoughts seem scattered, it is because they are .
The old chara design is SO much better than the new one. To me it looks like they took random actors to play the new version, if you know what I mean. 😔

And she also requested that the character designs be different too because she said the manga art was outdated & she also stated that she thought her designs weren’t up to her standards. But she was also going through a rough time when drawing the characters at the time.
I have no problem with both old and new versions all are good in their own way. I watched old version when I was a child and I thought it was so good at that time but watching new version I thought it was actually much better voices of the characters were more visible, I liked kyo’s voice in new version, uchida Yuuma brought Kyo’s character well but kyo old or new version i love both bc he’s funny. Tohru’s voice was also so cute in new version, and I also like yuki’s voice in new version better in old version he sound is like a woman and it makes me a little uncomfortable even at the beginning of seeing yuki in old version I think he’s a woman who dresses men because of his voice. Character design of course I like new because it is more comfortable to see because it is neater and decisive. But whichever it is, at the end I love fruit basket
声優の息の使い方とか、絵柄とかノリの流行りとか、
同じ作品で同じ場面をリメイクしたからこそ見えてくる流行の違いがあって面白いなぁ……
新の方も好きだけど旧の方は原作のシュールなギャグをしっかり表現してるしシリアスな所も独特の雰囲気があってめちゃくちゃ好き。
旧は旧のスタッフで完結まで見たかったな…

旧版は漫画に近いカット割。顔の上に吹き出しが乗ったり、あまり奥行きは出さずキャラの位置関係のみ。
新版はドラマのように、ひとつの空間に複数カメラを仕掛けて撮ってるかんじ。
最近は新版みたいなカット多いんだけど、個人的には旧版も捨てがたい魅力がある

They're accurate to the manga, og anime was the one that got the colors wrong anyways, and the designs are more akin to later designs in the manga
Kyo's beads are also finally the right color.

Yeah this one is definitely more dramatic and emotional compared to the old one. Which is fine since that's the overall feel of the Manga.

新作もある程度見たけど、全体的にやはり旧派。新の透くんは｢ふえぇ！｣とか｢あわわわ！｣みたいなのがオーバーな感じがしてぶりっ子に見えてしまう…。旧のちょっと抜けてるとこあるけど優しくて芯のある透くんが好き。
個人的には旧のキャストの方が好き
新作は見た事無いんだが…バカと言われても、やはり旧作の方が好きだなぁ。大地監督の良さが十分に出てたし、こどちゃとかでもシリアスとギャグのメリハリが良かったから。
