I also listened to Jimmy Cliff at the age of 16yrs. My late brother used to play from his cassette 😢 He is my fav reggae singer ❤ I am 55yrs I just cry each time I play his songs thinking of my Dear brother that I loved him unconditionally 💔
Jimmy Cliff is the best. He's a genius! His songs are evergreen. I was in my teens when I started to listen and dance to his music. I am now in my 50s and each time I play his music as if it has just been released. He is a freedom fighter, motivator, entertainer, composer, etc. He is fearful, outspoken, a model for all, etc. Ride on sir!
Psychadelic sounds that cut across age and time barriers, blending them into yesterday, today and tomorrow;all in one kind of mind set to all listening to just any record on any LP.
Jimmy is deep, very deep! Every song has a powerful message, he sings with such passion and conviction, his voice resonates with love in his lovely melodies. He's not just a good guy; he's a great man. His personality exudes love and humility. May you live long Jimmy, every blessing.
Jimmy cliff deserves international worldwide recognition award because of his talent in music as a great musician par excellence his songs are so touching to the root parts of human reasonings
The other day l was listening to late Bishop Rance Allen and wondered why he chose gospel music over pop and RnB ? The guy had one one of the sweetest singing voices ever . Wilson Pickett, your works will live long after we are all gone . You gives me shivers every time RIP👑👑😭😭
When music was great, and Jimmy one of 'The Greats', and he still is. People need to listen to this...listen to it while you dance....and set your soul free.
Thank you Jimmy Cliff! In my teens I played songs dancing, and repeating the tracks over and over with friends. Luckily enough I still have all these records of yours with me. Leaving Nigeria in the 80's for England, I took them with me! WELL DONE!
For the first time I heard about Jimmy Cliff in 1976 of my African countries' room-mates in Moscow State University. One of the greatest reggae singer. Nothing to add.
When I was a little boy, upon hearing this music, I never knew papa Jimmy was telling me to be careful of relations and friends whom are hypocrite in my life . Now that I know the meaning of the song due to things happening around me , I pray God should weed them off my way . Be wise
I was about twenty one when I first heard this song in the early seventies. That day the song was great and fantastic, as it is today, The Sunday morning after, I was passing by a church and I looked through the windows and saw the worshippers kneeling down in deep meditation or prayer, including my fellow wayfarers on the sleazy side of life, and I immediately burst into this song and ran away as fast as my legs could carry me.
Jimmy cliff is a prophet. There are people in churches who people are calling prophets, but all they do is swindle money from people... Jimmy is a real prophet because the message in his songs have come to pass and can evoke love compassion and understanding.. His music is timeless and living just like a tree planted by the rivers of waters. Give thus humble messenger his due. Buff respect to Jimmy cliff.
Jimmy Cliff is an incredible human being. Listening to his genre of music sparked up my world early in the morning in the very early 1970s. His songs remains evergreen today.
I have always loved Jimmy Cliff, his type of songs, lyrics they strike a chord in my heart each time i listen to his tracks.I will call him a reggae meastro of all time.
I still love his songs. I was very young when these songs came out and didn't understand the words but ding in the way I understood it. Dad was the best he bought us records and made us love music this much. Jimmy cliff my best of the Best in reggae music
Ellen Ellis ,it seems like the USA ,is not a double crosser but a triple crosser ,not a 🐍 in the grass but a 🐍 under the grasses ,if it was to get A Q out what's up ? And to leave all the hardwares
Jimmy Cliff not only a legend but just an awesome person that can keep even the most downtrodden person.. in going on each day by, at least with wisdom
You are correct my brother, When some tried to tarnished his image, that gave him the opportunity to release this record, have you got the news. Long Live Jimmy, we love you more than you taught. We Nigerian are your most Fans.
I remembered first time I visited my uncle at Aflao. My cousins always played this song and always felt good. That's was 1994 , up to date love this song and a lot of memories
I was a young boy in 1974 when Jimmy Cliff visited the city of Aba in now Abia State of Nigeria. But still, I defied all securities in Aba Stadium and made sure I came to the front where I was able to see this legend from Kingston Jamaica very clearly and when he demanded that the crowed should mention which of his songs they wanted him to perform, in my small voice then, I shouted: "ON MY LIFE", and he jumped up in his usual dancing style and performed it so well that the whole crowed forgot that they had waited for almost a whole day before his arrival to the Aba stadium on that day. He is really an inspiration and one of many reasons why I had to establish my business and live in the United States. Jimmy Cliff is my legend of all times. During an interview on that visit, when he was asked about which of Nigerian musicians he fancied most: he answered and said: "ONLY THAT OF FELA" and that again swept me off the ground because that was another legend of mine from Nigeria.

Jimmy Cliff - Hypocrites
[Chorus]
(Yeah yeah, yeah - heh)
Hypocrite, you dirty hypocrite
You're gonna pay the price some day
Hypocrites, all of you hypocrites
You're gonna pay the price some day
Words you speak from your mouth
But your heart is telling lies
Oh ho hypo -
Hypocrite, you better watch out
[Verse 1]
We walked, we talked together, yes we did
We ate, we drank together, yes we did
But when I find
You're a snake in the grass
My heart grieved to be taken for an ass
(Ooh hoo) but
[Chorus]
Hypocrite, all of you hypocrites
You're gonna pay the price some day
Hypocrite, stinking hypocrite
Gonna pay the price some day
Words you speak from your mouth
But your heart is telling lies
Oh ho hypo -
Hypocrite, you better watch out
[Verse 2]
All the time I was joking with you
You were planning to make me blue
On one side of your smile
Was a frown
You said you wish me well
Yet you drag me down
Anywhere you go
There is always one to be found
(Woh ho ho ho)
[Chorus]
Hypocrite, stinking hypocrite
You're gonna pay the price someday
Hypocrite, you rotten hypocrite
You're gonna pay the price some day
Words you speak from your mouth
But your heart is telling lies
Oh ho hypo -
Hypocrite, you better watch out
[Outro]
Hypocrites, you dirty hypocrites
I know you're gonna pay the price some day
(Woh oh oh)
Hypocrites, all of you hypocrites
I know you're gonna pay the price some day
(Woh oh oh)
Hypocrites, all of you hypocrites
I know you're gonna pay the price
I said you're gonna pay the price some day
(Yeah heh heh)
Hypocrites, all of you hypocrites
(Woh oh)
You're gonna pay the price
You're gonna pay the price some day
