You can also use the serpentine stamps to "stand" on each other's top. This can form crosses or pillars.

Yay, the video is reposted! I was worried that Chuck’s serpentine design was an ancient code that summoned an ancient race of aliens who abducted him....

I think the serpentine is one of the hardest stamps to master. For me anyway. No matter how hard I try, slowly. I just can't get it right. But I have created some interesting designs using it. I especially like using it in corners. Creates a spade like corner

How do you choose the thickness, type and tanning method of leather when you want to create something! I am brand new to leatherwork, but love it.

It definitely varies! Veg-tanned leather toolalbe. If you want to do any tooling or wet forming, you'll been veg tanned. Oil tanned stuff is gorgeous and patinas super well, but cannot be tooled or wet formed. Chrome tanned leathers have a great starting point for no-effort finishes, as they don't need to be dyed or tooled (and cannot be dyed or tooled). What are you looking to make?

How do you transition corners? How would you make it look right on a complete square?

The serpentine makes very interesting corners.

OLD LEATHER SMITH here. Very nice Chuck. The only difference I do is use a mall instead of the leather mallet, personally I find I don't have 2 strike the stamps more than twice unless it's a Huge stamp. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
