Dude! KY Clutch is awesome!! They happen to be local for me but they had a clutch for a 97 eagle talon tsi on the shelf. I was blown away. Their customer service is great! They support a ton of local racing around the Louisville KY area too! Great company!!
Not sure if you have come across Rory's off-road recovery "Trailmater" channel, but he mentioned in one of his uploads that he doesn't run ujoints with grease zerk passages. He showed a couple of samples where the ujoint snaps where the lube passage has been drilled out.
Strong enough to break your transmission, love that. Man im gonna tell some people about your channel on the magnum forums, try to get you some more viewers. I myself would like to do a turbo build on mine. Put some ported heads on with bigger valves, mild cam and kb hyper pistons with commetic gasket. Mind you ive got boltons from before like dual plane, shorty headers, 4 bbl throttle body and im a little disappointed in performance from the rebuild. I know it needs a tune but still it feels like i just refreshed the long block. Wanted to keep it streetable but it appears i need boost, or more cam and better heads with a stroker kit. Id feel more comfortable with a forged bottom end doing a turbo but im impressed with what youve done. Think a stock cummins turbo would be just fine for what i want. 12-17 psi of boost should be plenty for what i want. My next problem is ive got a gas 46re which will probably need to be some steroids to hold up
The 2001-05 ram 25/3500s with both the 5.9 v8 and hemis that were a manual had the larger 29 spline setup like the cummins/v10 trans (granted still the small input shaft) and have the larger 5th gear nut and housing. I've come across two nv4500s both out of 03 hemi trucks like this. However, I am swapping a G56 behind a hemi in my 03 2500 in place of a nv4500, and I think going with a clutch idea like yours would be a good bet (for when I get around to the boosted stage) as a lot of the gasser nv4500/g56 components are the same (flywheel, pressure plate, clutch, etc) so I may try to go with an upgraded diesel G56 input shaft and follow your tracks a bit. Thank you for the clutch/input shaft info for your setup!
There's a guy on here, racing ram fam. he has a twin turbo 5.9 magnum he also is using the kegger, I think he welded the whole thing together so no more plenum gasket failures. Especially from the boost pressures.
Have you got a good scattershield above the transmission? Pretty sure KT meant it when they said it was strong enough to break your transmission. Stronger you build it the bigger the boom if it breaks.
Stock magnum. Impressive. Everyone talks LS but these are really good too. It’s unfortunate the Hemi stole its thunder. Personally I like the magnum better. They should have redesigned off of that. Especially since they already share some architect with the original hemi. If I remember correctly there was some interchangeability with the original hemis? You might get some luck with a flywheel there? Maybe base your motor off a 318 so it doesn’t need the balanced flywheel? You probably already know this but you could build a 46rh and put the diesel 47 internals. Aftermarket is way better and guys are putting over 2k hp Through them. But it’s no fun not rowing a stick.
Hey might be too late to the vid bur could you send the hydralic clutch you used i have a ugraded cammed.5.3 v8 with some power and ive gathered all my parts other thsn thr hydlic throw oit barring due to knowing its a larger diamter its been a challenge to find one
Dude I've forgotten how good your channel is! TH-cam hasn't been suggesting your stuff, just found you again in my subs. I'm looking for nv4500 for my K5 Burb project but they're all huge money
@@reggien737 not in my neck of the woods! Theyre over $1000 for ones that need a rebuild. I have a marketplace search saved too🤣 I got lucky years ago and bought a whole parts truck for $800 on my last nv4500 swap
Will that transmission hold up on a 500hp powerstroke 6.0? I'm gonna build a diesel mustang that's gonna be a daily, callin' her "Black Betty" While my current mustang is a cherry red sn95 with a 3.8 v6, I call 'er Scarlett. Or "Red" For Betty, I am building 'er as a fun daily. 26" dually in the rear, and a hitch for the custom trailer I'm gonna pull behind her, she's a cruiser and a heart crusher lol.
I've done stupid with an NV4500 and even dumber with a 5600. I haven't broken a 1&3/8" input shaft yet, but I've twisted three. I've snapped the little inputs. Something about 4th gear 4600rpm launches does that lol. You want weird, I have a 1994 chevy K2500. 1996 chevy NV4500, 1995 12v cummins bell housing, Dodge 1&3/8" input shaft, 2005 NV5600 clutch and block adapter, and a 2015 6.7 cummins engine
Make sure you run 4 quarts of good quality fluid in that NV4500. Is that the first oil change since that motor went together? That could have been the stuff that had the turbo stuck
I had a 1997 ram 2500 with a 5.9 and NV4500 gear box. That was the heaviest fucking trans I ever pulled. The clutch and pressure plate was easy to get. I installed a center force

I've seen some of his stuff. I totally agree, I only run Dana/Spicer non-greasable joints, nothing else.

yea i building a f350 and need a trans OD stick 4x4 for the 79 roll back

I've never heard of anyone shoving boost through a kegger before, I bet it pulls like no other

I have 320k miles on stock 1.25 input and stock gears in a tuned common rail cummins, theyre not weak
They're not weak but you're also not making that much power with just a tune.
Have you got a good scattershield above the transmission? Pretty sure KT meant it when they said it was strong enough to break your transmission. Stronger you build it the bigger the boom if it breaks.
Good point there
I need one. Been thinking about an SFI bellhousing blanket.
@@FedUpFab That and a plate between you and the transmission itself. Passenger too unless you've got good insurance 🤣
main benefit of that would be reducing dual disk noise lol@@FedUpFab

I have an alert set on marketplace for NV4500s. Lol. Chevy ones are usually fairly cheap, but also usually 2wd.
you can get a nv4500 for 200 bucks and rebuild it for another 400. Theyre the cheapest manual around
