This is one of my favorite Rosie O'Donnell's roles. She nailed Betty Rubble perfectly and I honestly love this scene of her. Despite Bamm-Bamm being a troublemaker, she still cares for him as her son. Most mothers will be furious at their children for doing such things.
All these years, I thought Bam-Bam was sitting in the stroller angry that he was being restrained and couldn't do anything. Now I realize from the look on his face that he feels incredibly guilty because he knows he screwed up really bad, and got his mother in big trouble.
People were so incredibly harsh on Rosie O'Donnell back then. They always said she was miscast in this and miscast as Christina Ricci's adult counterpart in Now and Then because...well, they were basically trying to say that she's unattractive. I personally think she was/is really beautiful...but that's beside the point...she NAILS these roles! She's a huge part of my 90s. She has so much energy as an actress and she shifts between emotions seamlessly.
I think Rosie O Donnell's body type is more in line with a lot of American mothers this day of age. It is a lot of hard work to stay thin all the time, and an even harder job to raise good kids on top of it.
Most of the guys who complained about Rosie O'Donnell being cast in The Flintstones Movie were just bitter because Betty Rubble was the first woman that they.... rubbed one out to!
Rosie O'Donnel showed the FLINSTONES MOVIE to Prince Charles on a trip to England and he laughed at the clip when the Pterodactyl dumped poop on the cars. He laughed so hard hell off his chair. I'm sure Diana would've been resrtained in her laughter.
Notice how Bamm Bamm did not have to be picked up by his adoptive mother. He knows from life experience with wild mastodons aka wooly mammoths, to run away, if a wild Pterodactyl appears.

Seeing those two security guards watching over Bamm-Bamm like a couple of hawks, one of them holding a big club, I'm like, "Man, I sure wouldn't want to be in Bamm-Bamm's place right now."
Rosie could have just done the voice. E.G. Daily voiced Bamm-Bamm in the movie with Hlynur and Marino Sigurdsson stood as the character. Mel Blanc's voice was used for the Dino puppet. It is easy than having a fat woman to play as a skinny character. Even Elizabeth Taylor should have been assigned to voice Pearl.
I first thought Bamm-Bamm was sulking because he got caught and that there was no way out, but then again, judging by that stunned look on his face, I could tell right away that he felt bad because he knew that he had screwed up big time and got his mother in trouble for it.
Am I the only one wondering how credit cards work in the Flintstones universe? Is there a tiny bird inside the credit card that flies off to the banks whenever it’s used and checks how much money is in the account? I guess I shouldn’t overthink this.

Rosie O'Donnell was the wrong choice to play Betty. She was obese and unattractive (well she still is) and definitively far from the image we (Flintstones fans) have of Betty Rubble. I love this movie and I think John Goodman was the perfect casting choice for Fred (similar to Christopher Reeve's Superman) but Rosie O'Donnell simply is not Betty Rubble for me. Six years later they found a better actress to play Betty but that movie (Rock Vegas) was terrible. Too bad they didn't get it right the first time. Not to mention Rosie O'Donnell is a horrible human being in real life.
