    PreSonus Eris 8 $200
    GrantMaya External Battery $180 www.amazon.com..." to RCA splitter cable $25 www.amazon.com... Total: $1,800
    For $1,900 I would get a Bose Pro16! But it wouldn't be light or battery powered.
    I thought the Bose B1 from the L1M2 was small and light, this is even smaller and lighter and performs like a REAL subwoofer! I always saw the B1 as a mid bass module which was great for acoustic guitarists only.

    I get NO money if you purchase.
    Cable set up:
    From S1 Pro you need a 1/4" TS cable to RCA male.www.amazon.com...
    plug splitter cable into single RCA cable. Dual RCA of splitter into right/left inputs of sub.www.amazon.com...

    This "One Man Band" works alone: hauling all gear & playing my Yamaha Genos. In Dance Halls, I use my 12" Behringer powered Subwoofer, with two 15" & two 12" Cabs. (Sure, a 15" Sub would be better, but my 12 sounds great and spares my back!). I also play a few Restaurants, where folks want to hear conversations. These gigs are easy: just two 8" cabs. Their limited output, and virtually NO low frequencies, make my Genos sound like a cheap Walmart toy keyboard--when I know it sounds like a real live band! My PreSonus Eris Sub 8 is perfect for my restaurant gigs. With it, my Genos voices once again sound like the real things, and bass lows are awesome. I use lower gain in restaurants. However, in home-studio I enjoy higher gain--I'm blown away how close it sounds to my 12" sub! Don't let the 8" speaker size make you pass this baby up. For studio, and small to medium size venues it lacks nothing. It's less than half the weight and size of my 12" Sub--yet it easily puts out 90% of the 12" sub's low frequencies and bass thump. I love this thing!

    This is a really nice setup. It has great 🔊 bass. My still favorite setup is my 2 s1pros and Sub1 especially when I go from a mixer to the sub and out to the s1pros wit the sub using the crossover in the sub. But to simplify things you have an amazing setup! Great work!

      Thanks. I think we use the same little mixer, the Yamaha MG06xu. The mixer gives a noticeable difference in headroom. I run the sub from the headphone out. I know I lose some max volume/clarity compared to going from the mixer to the sub. If I need more volume I go to another speaker. I like being able to dial in the sub gain independently from the top. Referred to running the sub Aux out. Many DJ's go that route. Give it a try if you've never done it.

    Hey thanks for this. I am soaking up any info I can get related to this type setup. I have been using the original S1 for small solo gigs. I play backing tracks, play my guitar, and sing. I recently purchased the S1 Pro+, and was thinking of using original as monitor or even a second S1 for bigger stereo sound? But I noticed the lower freqs are just not there. Im not doing any kind of dance music, or heavy bass stuff. Maybe small venues. 20/30 people, Indoor/Outdoor. Do you think that would cover my requirements? I know its better to get the sub, but I am cramped for space, and want a small footprint when gigging. Love the S1Pro+ as I can go wireless with my mic and guitar and still use my effects board through the S1Pro +. Naturally my goal is to go as streamlined, light and wireless as possible.Thanks again!

      NO way! Pro8 has 8 drivers that will throw to a much further distance and at a higher volume at that max distance. S1 pro max 103dB/Pro8 max 112dB, almost 10dB difference which is equal to double the volume! Pro8 has a dispersion of 180 degrees/S1Pro 120 degrees. Meaning one Pro8 will do a much better job filling a medium size space with one column.

    Hi Bill, thanks for the great videos!
    You inspired me to get a sub8 to pair with my s1pros for a battery-powered camping/beach setup. As much as bluetooth is convenient I don't like the sound quality so I'm running the s1 pros through the sub8 outputs using TRS cables and also have the sub8's high pass filter on to cut off anything below 80hz going to the s1pros with the source coming from my phone going through a Cambridge DAC magic100 and a passive SyS preamp for volume control (both i found 2nd hand for cheap).
    I can report the setup is great and the sound quality is much improved vs bluetooth however I got some electrical power interference coming through the sub outs to the s1pros (which is probably from the inverter on the riverpro) so I've just bought a portable power conditioner to hopefully remedy the issue.
    Currently tossing up if I buy another sub8 to run dual sub8's in stereo or just bite the bullet and get a bose sub1.. a tough decision. How has your setup been going since this vid and changes?
    Cheers Paul

    • @WWeiss-nv5vz
      @WWeiss-nv5vz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's an easy recommendation! Spend the extra $$$ and get the Bose Sub1. Eris 8 is great for medium to low volume to add the missing low end frequencies. I mainly use the Eris 8 when I need the lightest weight sub to carry around the house.
      Funny you should ask because just yesterday playing through a mixer at about 90dB some heavy bass content, the Eris 8 was bottoming out. Something you would not easily hear but at those volumes it will definitely shorten the life span of the sub. 80dB and under sounds great. A little disappointed but this Studio Sub isn't made for live sound volumes.
      Sub1 can play MUCH louder before bottoming out, especially outside. Maybe 3-4 times louder! Also Sub1 is tuned like all other live sound subs at 40Hz which really kicks compared to a studio sub that goes down to low 30Hz cleanly. Adding a second Eris 8 will only give you maybe 2dB gain. A waste of money:(

      You will get more output/db's with multiple Eris 8's but the low frequency performance will NOT change. Five Eris 8's = $1,000. For that money get a single SVS SB3000 that goes up to 127dB and down to 18Hz! A single Sub1 is a live sound sub that hits 124 dB at 40Hz. Depends on your application. It adds the missing low end for the iP300 at low volume say below 90dB. Acoustic/vocals yes, electric instruments/percussion no. The bass it adds is clean and full, it does not kick like a live PA sub.

    What’s the best stand for the Bose S1 pro, so that it doesn’t get toppled over outdoors!?! Lol.

    I am building the same system but using the Alto Professional Busker speakers. Even cheaper but about the same sound. Oh, one difference is that I am buying the Presonus Eris 8BT at $199 so that I will not need the cable as in your setup.

    Could the Grantmaya power the Sub 1?

    • @WWeiss-nv5vz
      @WWeiss-nv5vz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At low volumes yes. If you turn it up and play heavy bass tracks the Sub1 will shut down. I recommend the Ecoflow Pro. www.amazon.com/EF-ECOFLOW-Portable-Multiple-Recharge/dp/B08T1KY8SG/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1J7GR0A2KS7KP&keywords=ecoflow+pro&qid=1689185612&sprefix=ecoflow+pro%2Caps%2C189&sr=8-3&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.c3015c4a-46bb-44b9-81a4-dc28e6d374b3

    So you link both the Bose s1 pros via the app and the presonus sub8 with auxiliary?
    Why do you have wires running from one of the speakers to the subwoofer and not both?

      Hi there, I have been wondering about this too. The main bluetooth connection S1 with the sub connected must control the frequency allowed to the second S1 in party mode. This is just a guess, does anyone know if I am right and if not, what is the true answer pleeeeease!

    I couldn’t get the Bose S1 pros to connect in “party mode” wirelessly due to a problem with Apple iOS updates not working with the Bose Connect app. I searched and searched for information online before I stumbled onto an article about it. Very frustrating! I have an old iPad mini with an old version of iOS and it works fine. Just thought I should mention it in your comments in case someone else is having the same issue.

    I have to disagree on this. I bought this sub, and I have two Bose S1 Pro+ speakers, and this sub is noticeably lackluster. The output and the bass quality is low. I have the settings just as you have them here.

      it's literally made to be used indoors and to accurately image the bass from a song to mix
      don't know why he got the idea to use this outdoors or in a PA setup, unless he doesn't need much volume
      dependant on what type of songs you play you might need to check if they're not songs with what i call "fake bass" like a lot of rap/hiphop songs nowadays, they often don't use real bass tones
      also this won't give a "boom" sound as it's made to be accurate
