Was anyone else ever fascinated with all the odd secret things in this game, the way you could scroll the background by pressing certain buttons, the secret code that let you play as a recolourised version of the wrestlers, or that strange thing the crowd would do once in a blue moon where they started a slow hand clap. I don't believe anybody ever got to the bottom of what that particular clapping was about, despite false rumours of it being a requirement to unlock Kamala and Doink.
This game is preceded by Super Wrestlemania in the same way it was succeeded by WWF Raw, which is to say Super Wrestlemania shares the same aesthetic, format, animations etc. as Royal Rumble, so if you're looking for the true genesis of Acclaim's wrestling titles on the SNES maybe give that way a look as well! Super Wrestlemania actually came out *before* Steel Cage Challenge on the NES in North America as well!
There was a game in between Rumble and RAW on SEGA CD. Being on CD allowed a much wider roster, voice samples and some pretty compressed, but videos non the less. WWF Rage in the Cage it called.
With every bit of respect I can muster, you are on Nostalgia crack... this cant hold up in anything other than maybe graphics... the sounds are more kin to your finest x rated content and its complicated to play...id put it beside nitro and thunder on the scale of bad... the aki games are peak wrestling game fun don't believe me, where are the mods for this game?

What’s that about a code that let you play as recoloured versions of the wrestlers? I’ve never heard this
@@obsoleteworlds the clapping is just odd...it seems more like an error! 😂
@@MattSmith-c5w I think he means playing as the same character to fight each other.

@CantStopTheRaj Loved Hogan sitting on guys faces for the leg drop!
