Anyone who says this recipe is wrong clearly did not make the recipe. This recipe is spectacular and awesome. One pot fed the family for two days. Second day is even better. Save the leftover gravy for the next batch. I added some extra Mezzetta peperonchini, 3 lbs of rare thinly sliced roast beef and extra beef bullion. Hard to find decent French bread, but walmart had some fresh baked loaves. This recipe is outstanding.
Recipe turned out really great! Gotta have the right kind of french bread for this sandwich and dunk it in the gravy- 5 stars - I will make this recipe again for sure!
Wondering about getting that meat from the Deli. Out here in the Houston area, the delis don't cut rare meat for you that I've seen yet......I've gotten the butcher to slice my ribeyes for Phillys, but they don't get paper thin for sure
@@davidsimpson3489 I am glad you found a good deli in your area. The sandwich will turn out great! Hope you found some good bread - I'm having a issue finding real French Bread in my area now. Hope you enjoy the Italian Beef Sandwich!! I made a double batch recently and froze the leftovers for the next time I make the recipe.
This recipe is dynamite man! Made it exactly as shown and it waz the best italian beef I've had in a while. I dunked my sandwich in the broth before eating. Off the hook!
I've done it like this before and it works pretty good. This weekend I'm using thin sliced Porterhouse I picked up at Asian market. It comes uncooked frozen in logs. I'll drain out the veggies then bring the gravy up to high simmer before dumping the (room temp) meat in, and turning off the flame right away. The residual temp should cook the beef in a few minutes. Next time I'm getting a $50 meat slicer off Amazon and going all the way with the roast.
Tried this tonight. It was good. Family all loved it. Needs a cup of Burgundy wine and mozzarella cheese and more oregano. Definitely going to do this again!
Terrible recipe! Agreed about oregano.....its the secret ingredient for sure! He over did it with the vinegary giardinara added into the cooking gravy. Its too oily, weirdly spicy, and just wrong! FTR, adding cheese is a philly cheese sandwich and NOT traditional Chicago beef regardless of your tastes & opinions. IYKYK.....
This is a HORRID recipe all around. Sooooo many mistakes in the ingredients and the execution. Laughable that some thinks its a Chicago Beef. Not even close!
Recipe is way off from ingredients to execution. Terrible end result......or you don't know true Chicago Italian Beefs. I GUARANTEE the big boys aren't using Swanson broth & bouillon to induce flavor! IYKYK!
NOT this Mezz brand! Chicago beefs is best known for Marconis giardinara - found on Amazon. BTW....ITS NEVER used in cooking the gravy! Giardinara is added on top of sandwich!
This recipe is wrong on every level, from ingredients to execution. This isn't even close to an authentic Chicago Italian Beef sandwich! Swanson broth and bouillon cubes, and oily / vinegary giardinara to induce flavor in that gravy!?! Seriously?? Nope. Awful recipe. BTW, Marconis is Chicagos traditional giardinara, NOT store bought crappy Mezz. IYKYK.
His recipe is TERRIBLE! It DOES need to be made from scratch or there's no flavor! He uses Swanson broth and bouillon cubes!!?? Soooooo wrong! And the wrong giardinara.
This is the STRANGEST Italian beef recipe I've seen in a long time....check out Joshua Weissman or Brian Langstrom for a more authentic version.... On the other hand, if this is all you have to work with, then make the best of it!!😉😉
This is my favorite sandwich recipe of all time. Gets better and better everytime I make it!

100% correct! Add some pepperoncini peppers with the 'sammitch' and Maybe some 'Jays' Chips and a good beer!
The Italian Beef Sandwiches are good with French Fries and a drink.

My mouth is just watering. Thanks Dave.
Thank you and please check out all my other recipes!
Why? Its an awful recipe. So inaccurate.
Thank you! Looks great! Now I'm off to the store. I'm making this tonight.
I hope your really liked the sandwich! Thank You!
Terrible recipe. Wayyyyyy off the mark.
This is my favorite Sandwich! Recipe is perfect & the gravy is excellent!

I found a deli not far away with rare top round, so I'll be able to give this a try today!

You gotta dip that sandwich lol. That's how true Chicagoans do it.
I heard that keeping it real make it from scratch that's how you make a true Italian beef
I would definitely use MARCONI Giardiniera instead. Best Giardiniera and best sport peppers.
Not all of us dip the whole sandwich, some do bite by bite! I hate a soggy ass sandwich where the bread turns into goo and can’t hold the damn thing!
I will be making this on Friday! 👍
How'd it go
@@ScumbagJames Honestly, I had somebody else do it, but it was terrific.👍
looks yummy
Dont use beef bullion. Instead use 'better than bullion'!

Great recipe, I made the beef today with just the spices you recommended and added some fennel seeds. It really came out good. Thank you.
Thank you very much! It's my #1 favorite sandwich recipe! Dave A.

Chemical free water? You must be from Chicago.
#yummy, #tasty, #looksgood, #gimmesome
What size jar on the Girardiniera?
NOT this Mezz brand! Chicago beefs is best known for Marconis giardinara - found on Amazon. BTW....ITS NEVER used in cooking the gravy! Giardinara is added on top of sandwich!
mmm.....
You buy the cooked beef? BOGUS
yeah this is bogus I wanted this video to show how to raise cows not buy stuff from a store🤡

I was waiting to see what cut of beef to use, not lunch meat 😢
Zzzzzz Zzzzzzzzzzz
👁👃👁I thought you were going to make it from scratch like I do my bad still look good though are you ready to come Holla At Me👌💜💜👍

Wrong giardiniera, that's not Chicago style gardinara. That's bland. Use marconi Chicago style gardinara. Other then that. This is good
Crypto Ninja- Marconi -Chicago's own.
FACT! Amazon sells mild and hot. Marconis THE only way to go.......and NOT dumped in the gravy! And this recipe is HORRID. Wrong on so many levels.
