    Hello Jeff; have enjoyed your videos for a long while. I bought one of these Urban Survival knifes after reading your review. I like it. Question which way do I turn the cap on top to get it off. Mine does not budge, tried it both ways?? Any ideas? Thanks and Cheers!

    Finally, I find this thing. That knife was described as a sort of penknife in "Without Fail", a Jack Reaver novel. I've been looking for it ever since.

    Bought this knife some time ago. Has been very useful. Useful in self defense scenarios. I use it for letter opening.box cutting etc.. Does fine. Blade is thin but very sharp so be careful handling it. ;) lol! Recommend checking screws on the knife if you feel any play on the blade. Depending on the type of use for the knife these screws can become loose after a while.

    I think "Scalpel on Steroids" is the proper way to describe this knife!

    I’ve had this knife for years now and it’s served me quite well. I can easily flick it open, one handed with my thumbnail once I got used to doing it. my only problem with it, is I don’t have two of them!

    I think retailers will probably have to deal with fewer questions if they just put their own sticker with an inspection date. That will give the buyer peace of mind, and show diligence and integrity of the seller. Win win. Just my 2 cents.

    I've got one of these knives and they are awesome for what it is supposed to be. Rides in the pocket and you'll never notice it it's so small and light. It's crazy sharp and penetrating...people in jail use much less knife and get the job done.

    Hey Jeff, great video as always. :-)
    But there seems to be a simular model from Boker with a straight edge. Do you happen to know the name of that model? I`m having trouble finding the original.

    hey mate if you think that knife is hard to open one-handed you should try a stat gear pocket samurai i just got mine a week or so ago and it took me a day or two but now i get it one hand almost first try every time it's only a total length of 120mm and has a 51mm 440c stainless steel blade that's decently sharp out of the packaging

  • @Harrox73
    @Harrox73 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the great review! Maybe they made the blade thicker so you can use it to lever s.th. open? Like a door or a hatch?

  • @9SS94Cr
    @9SS94Cr 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    EDC'ed it for about a month before I changed back to my old trusty cqc7. It's biggest downfall is its blade geometry. It is tool narrow for the amount of material removed in grinding, makes it doesn't really cut that well, and then the recurve tanto makes matters worse. It doesn't work well as a cutting tool. Functional, but far from enjoyable. I really hope they can make a full flat ground plain drop point version. Jim Wagner, as I respect his perspectives on knife designs, seems too fixated on recurves.

    Hey Jeff quick question where is the review on the cold steel talwar and if you have the means could you posibly do a review on the Becker bk 7 I have been watching your videos since your channel started then I was under the age of 9 or so and now I'm I'm 15 and I gotta say you know your stuff man keep up the good work I'm a little version of you (:

  • @9SS94Cr
    @9SS94Cr 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay, I was browsing Boker's official website and just realize they have already made a version I was hoping for. It is called office survival. Maybe that is what you are referring to in the video?( there is a Chinese knockoff version with wharncliff blade, which I thought was what you were talking about the alternative blade shape) Defiantly will get one when it becomes widely available with a reasonable price, right now though it is kinda over priced.

    that looks way more like a utility knife than a self defense knife to me. Its basically just a folding exacto knife with some extra room on their for cutting things like large boxes or packages. it even opens like a utility tool. The width of the blade does point in the self defense/ combat direction however. But even with that I'm still considering buying this for utility purposes.

    Haha, I was thinking to myself 'this sounds like a samurai weapon', literally one second later I hear 'because I'm not fighting ninjas every day', man that was great timing.. Also, glass breaking is about applying as much force through to smallest possible point. So even though the 'button' end might look like it would be more effective, but it wouldn't.

    I like the discrete appearance, but if self defense is the main purpose, shouldn't it be quick and easy to open... maybe add a flipper and it would be great.

  • @Artificial-Insanity
    @Artificial-Insanity 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can see this being useful as an EDC depending on which field you work in, but as a defense option? Nah, no reach and if I'm going with a cqc knife for defense, I'll take a Karambit over something like this.

  • @fifemaster100

    I know two people who have owned this knife. The tip of the blade does not fully rest inside the handle and can come open in the pocket with relative ease. This caused them to either slice their hand in their pocket or get stabbed in the leg.

      @kalleager4839 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      European countries have different laws. In England you can't own pistols and even the national shooting team practices overseas, while in the Czech Republic you can carry a pistol for personal defense legally. For knives, it's the same. Some places it's illegal, some places have length requirements and some places it's ok as long as it's a folder. You'll have to look up the local laws for where you are going/living.

    Just some random thoughts from an old warhorse, but I believe that judging this tool by the blade, thus calling it a "knife," isn't quite fair. Wagner has been around the block a few dozen times, and he would never risk that reputation by putting his name on a knife (of all things lol) that is useless for it's intended purpose.
    Given the name, covert design, and shape of body and blade, to say nothing of the designer(s); I believe the intention was to create a multi-functional tool for a SHTF self defense situation. In that role, I believe it is perfection, but it's important to note that this intended philosophy of use means the blade is not the primary feature of the weapon. While this is absolutely my personal opinion, and I have no evidence, I would stake my personal reputation on this being the case.
    I see it's most useful as a surprise impact weapon, bladed weapon second. It's innocuous enough to be disregarded by any would-be trouble makers, and those angles look pretty devastating...The knife is a nice added touch though; once you've tried non-lethal and the assholes are thinking about getting up, they'll either rethink it, or learn the hard way, and either way you're justified. ;)

    • @franktheweinerburke
      @franktheweinerburke 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trying to open this thing in fight would be near impossible, and waiting to do so until it failed as a impact device is even worse advice.

    I think the concept is kinda silly, for 99% of the population, the first thing to go is fine motor skill when one is under an adrenalized state, and opening a pocket knife becomes much harder to do... so the idea of a small folder that takes time to open one handed is simply a bad design for those reasons.
    Now that 1% who can pull it off, good on ya... but the majority of people can not and will not, and in the time it takes them to even get it out of their pocket, let alone open it and be in the ready to defend yourself, could already be down and out.
