@@slavindafaust807 1) Banana PLANTS (they are plants not trees) need A LOT of SUN, not just light, warmth (25-35 degrees Celsius being perfect) and a good amount of air humidity.
      2) The only two varieties that will survive in our climate is the Dwarf Cavendish and the Super Dwarf Cavendish, but only when taken inside when temperatures go below 15 degrees Celsius outside.
      3) Only one specie will be able to survive OUTSIDE in our climate: the Basjoo. These can tolerate up to -10 degrees Celsius, when correctly mulched and drooping leafs are removed before winter (called pruning). But they don't produce edible fruit (if any).
      3) Banana plants need lots of water (the leafs are made of 80% water) but can't stand wet feet at all for too long, aka they don't like swamps.
      4) Banana plants need a lot of organic (!!!) fertilizer (dried cow dung being excellent). And I do mean a lot. You can not over-fertilize them.
      5) Banana plants need very airy soil, not just potting soil. Otherwise the roots will rot away, resulting in a dead plant (use Mediterranean or tropical soil, or make you're own mix).
      6) The only edible banana plant that will be able to grow here (when taken properly care of, of course) is the Cavendish specie.
      7) The Dwarf Cavendish grows up to 300cm, the Super Dwarf up to 150-200cm. and the Basjoo is of yet unknown to me, but they stay small too if I remember well.
      8) Banana plants can grow in small pots, but soon the roots will grow on top of the soil, thus needing re-potting every few months. 80 liter pots are perfect for them, specially when they are growing pups (baby banana shoots).
      9) It can take up to 4 years before the plant starts to give a flower and then bananas. And it takes months for the bananas to ripen on the plant.
      10) A banana plant in the store costs about 15-20 euros (average). This for a plant of about 30-40 cm height max. Within a year they can grow up to full size though, depending on the weather and the amount of care you give it.
Hope this helps. And no, I don't write French, but I do understand every word of it. :) So feel free to ask questions.
