      it's weird not having him, I remember when people hyped Kimbo Slice for defeating Tank Abbott (10-15 record, only twice having two wins in a row). Ken Shamrock was supposed to face Kimbo, but had an injury.
      Petruzelli sent him down in 15 seconds and accused the promotion of trying to fix the contest.

      @@otaviofrnazarioAlso, Kimbo was offered a couple other fighters to step in instead of Petruzelli, including Frank Shamrock. His team thought Frank and the other options were too dangerous of a fight to take short notice. Dude was hand-picked as supposedly the easiest fight for Kimbo, and look what happened.

    Houston Alexander used to come up to Sioux City all the time before going to the UFC. There was a bar that basically had unsanctioned fights where you just signed a waiver that said you wouldn't sue if anything happened. They didn't really care how drunk you were, they would let you fight. My friends and I would go just to watch him knock people out. He would knock out 4 or 5 guys a night. They would let drunks heckle him until he'd have to go back in the ring and knock out another person. My friends and I were not surprised at all to see him make it to the UFC.

    The thing with Cosmo is that he got stuck in bad contracts with Bellator and ONE, and couldn't get fights. As much as we criticize the UFC, Bellator and ONE are just as bad, if not worse - they've killed lots of careers with messed up contracts.

    • @ThatMidWestDude513
      @ThatMidWestDude513 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@casillasscorer it is Prize fighting tho, you get paid what your worth, id rather have the UFC the way it is than boxing, complete drama queens who don't want to fight the top guys, getting pats on the back for boring fights and not breaking a sweat, their can be multiple "Champions" within single divisions, not to mention compared to other sports the ufc is only making about a billion a year, with around 600 fighters under contract, no doubt performance bonuses should be atleast 100k, and complete insurance, but their is no doubting they are by far the best combat sports organization, your company needs to be able to have a surplus of money so you can invest it back into the company, they cant pay every joe 100k multiple times a year, that's illogical, so not only would they have less money to invest back into the company if they did that, you'd also get the problem that comes along with entitled over paid athletes, and you get what the NBA and Boxing has turned into, and they wonder why their viewership has gone down almost every year for 7 or so years now (The NBA), because entitled overly compensated athletes don't want to give it their all, have 💩 attitudes, then prance around like little queens, their is a reason why boxers like Tank Davis and Canelo consistently have greaty PPV buys and regularly sell out months before their fights, even tho their are so many top boxers, because they are not only talented but actually leave it all out their in the ring, and if you don't believe me just pay attention to some former NBA Players and what NBA fans are saying, and what former boxers and boxing fans are saying, its more complicated than "Just start a Union" that's way easier said than done, like all things.... it will get better overall for the ufc fighters who arent the top guys, just gradually, this is prize fighting tho, not your 3rd grade gym class where participation trophies are handed out so as to not hurt any feelings...

    • @Kennedy-eo2pz
      @Kennedy-eo2pz 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Guys don't want to renew, so they never give them the last fight of the contract, basically trying to make them run out of money and accept a new contract. Marcus Buchecha has been vocal about not being able to get more fights booked with ONE and wanting out. Roberto Soldić hasn't been able to get a fight in over a year. Reinier de Ridder (former ONE double champion) warned fighters about this just yesterday because he struggled with ONE.
      Matt Hume has been a literal scumbag to these guys - the only one who got special treatment was Mighty Mouse (Matt Hume was his long-time friend and head coach).
      There are so many careers stuck over there; it's actually sad. I wish there was more media coverage.

  • @theywouldnthavetocensormei9231
    @theywouldnthavetocensormei9231 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +197

    You have to keep in mind, even the fighters that didn't have a successful career in the UFC are some of the best in the world, just to get there puts you in a very small percentage of everyone that's competed in combat sports. As fans, when we criticize a fighter that "sucks", we should keep the perspective that they only suck compared to the best in the world, they're still pretty damn good and put in years of hard work to get there.

      To be honest, I think most of the true, hardcore fans realize this and do truly respect all the fighters who get in there.
      It’s more so the casual fans and younger, less mature fans that tend to bash on fighters and say they suck and such. They’re more about only the excitement of combat sports rather than also the refined techniques, strategies, etc.

Fighters,all fighters can just have an off night or unprepared it’s who’s better THAT NIGHT Arlovsky by KO is hard as hell not many people did it,the fact this guy actually fought on to face,Fedor,Overeem etc these are the Legends. I’ll tell you what no.1 on the list has a true career to be proud of!!he didn’t retire. He competed and he lost to the best of the best. He should be applauded as opposed to anyone who just ran off tail between their legs. Just like Win lose or draw, Stipe Miocic at 42. Beat everyone. If he loses at 42 to a known PED & narcissistic drug cheat. Who refused to fight him in his prime stating “that is one hard hitting scary guy”…that takes nothing from Miocic but we All know Jon’s picked his time well. Or so he thinks and it will bite him in the ass. Regardless of money. These are rare hard working professionals.

I still have fond memories of spamming power punches and knocking ppl into the dirt on the one that started the goat trilogy of ufc games and the first real next gen game: undisputed 2009. Mostly from his vicious KO of Jardine who was by then already a TUF runner up and had literally bounced Forrest’s head off the mat. Something about Houston holding Jardine’s limp body up to make sure he can hit him more and Rogan warning he might “blow his load” too soon 😂 only to then hit Jardine so hard with an uppercut he actually jumps. Honorable mention: Lando Vannata. Lando put on such a great performance against prime Tony Ferguson, although he lost, he went toe-to-toe with Tony, dropped him in the first round and almost finished him, which guys like Barboza, Cerrone and RDA couldn't do. After that he couldn't put a string of wins together to get himself to the top.

    11:06 ...honestly I blame Team Alpha Male & Faber almost as much as ONE. I get why ONE maybe wanted to “prove something” by having a former UFC guy get beat, although it ruined their investment in Sage......but Uriah should have known better than to sign off of this fight, he was coaching and managing Sage at the time
    Cosmo fought most of his career above 170lbs, more so around MW / 185. Sage fought many at 155. Plus their respective ages, experience level, etc, Faber should have been smarter than to agree. Sage had a name at the time, they had leverage to get a different opponent

      I mean, the GSP win certainly outshined everything else he ever did....but to even get that chance, he had to win a season of TUF. Winning the season of TUF alone...winning those 3(I think) fights, winning that season...THAT could have been the end, his "one hit". He could have simply been demolished by the champ and been remembered as well as Travis Lutter.
      But he won the season and then KO'd GSP....he almost won the fight against Matt Hughes and he got a great KO over Frank Trigg.
      Sure...he retired, but it just doesn't feel like he has one single thing he did followed by an ocean of nothing. He won TUF and THEN won the title. That's a two-hit wonder even if the 2nd hit is significantly, significantly more of a big deal.

    Funny thing with that Rogers Fedor fight, he bloodied Fedor in that first exchange because his punch was tighter and faster. Fedor clocked him at the end because Rogers' punch was wider and slower. If that last punch was as tight as the first, that match could have gone very differently.

  • @MichaelTorres-b2v

      @@matthewjswideryea that's pretty crazy. And I think pretty much every hardcore fan knew Kimbo was a novelty, and wasn't really going anywhere......
