@@BleaK1211 Really? I always thought his work on GR sounded tired and overproduced. I'll take his earlier work on MAYH and Still life any day. He's mellowed a lot though; he feels more comfortable in Soen.
Love the tasteful bass on this song. Perfectly accompanied by a drummer who uses all the tools in his arsenal without going too over the top or getting busy. They leave the perfect amount of air for eachother.
Best reaction to any Opeth song I’ve ever seen and it just happens to be the epic Harlequin Forrest.. insightful comments and appreciation for the transitions.. ❤️🤙🙏
This is the song I always go to when introducing someone to progressive death metal. Fantastic rhythms to open, clean vocals, and relatable melodies. When the growls kick in, it's just another great transition.
Speaking of openers for Opeth, when I saw them live in Bucharest, Katatonia opened for them and I was happy to discover yet another great Swedish band this way.
The only time I saw Opeth they headlined. First on stage was Devin Townsend Project then Gojira and finally Opeth Needless to say it was one of the best shows I've ever had the pleasure of attending.
I was lucky enough to see them last year 2 weeks before everything was shut down due to Covid. Graveyard was the opener. Mikael's banter is hilarious, and they put pure badassery on display for 2 hours. Luckily this was on the setlist.
That's the last concert I've been to. At Royal Oak Music Theater. It was great. Saw Opeth ever time they've been to Michigan, starting with opening for Amorphis at the I-Rock back in 2001.
Would love to see you react to Agalloch. Similar to Opeth but more folky. Anything from them is gold, one of my favorite band - unfortunately disbanded. :(
@@vodkadrinker4723 Yeah. And for me, I can thank Agalloch for having being my bridge into folk music as they often guest starred Nathanael Larochette, an acoustic guitar and composer, in some of their tracks whom is behind Musk Ox, a neofolk production. To this day I am still down the rabbit hole exploring neofolk, pagan folk, viking folk and a plethora of others, with one of my favorite being Heilung, another group the Hunterz have reacted to.
You two should try the live version of "Hatesong" from the band Porcupine Tree. If Opeth is the cheese, Porcupine Tree is the wine. They compliment eachother in a cool way.
I know Katatonia, Moonspell, Nevermore, Ghost, Devin Townsend and Anathema has opened for them too, so pretty similar bands/acts. I think Gojira opened for them as well.
Enslaved opened for them too and Porcupine Tree when they played Damnation all clean vocals co-headlining together. First time I ever saw them was opening for Amorphis and every time since I think they were always headlining except when they opened for Dream Theater and when they played Mayhem Fest and Sounds of the Underground.
When I last saw opeth live (last winter), their support act had been an icelandic Trio called The Vintage Caravan... that had been prog at it's core, I would guess. (But me coming from a blackmetal / doommetal backround a tiny bit to flimsy and happy sounding) But opeth's ability to transition, to prolong every part just exactly long enoug before one would become annoyed and then Top it with an ever better part, at least to me as a longtime fan, is outstanding. I am looking foreward to my 13th show, hopefully next year in October... and, after he begged for many months, I will bring my then 9 year old son too, because he loves opeth just as his mommy does. My favorite part of Harlequin Forest is that ' they are the trees' part and the following guitar solo. I just love the lyrics and how they did weave the music around it.
There were many singers with great voice in that era. Eddie Vedder, Chris Cornell and Layne Staley. I think she didn't compare bands themselves, but singers with distinctive voices. At least that's how I took it.
Music and the connections people make is completely subjective. Don’t act like a douche just because you don’t agree with their perspective. There’s enough negativity in the world, especially online. Keep the rude comments & condescending, elitist attitude to yourself. Please. I’m not meaning to be a rude asshole. Actually... yes I am. 🤘🏻
Martin Axenrot on drums is a criminally underrated drummer. He is phenomenal
He was voted best prog drummer 2 years running by loudersound. I’ve never got this “rating” system personally...
Axe is great, but I think Lopez's work in Ghost Reveries is also incredibly underrated. I dont see anyone discussing it.
@@BleaK1211 Really? I always thought his work on GR sounded tired and overproduced. I'll take his earlier work on MAYH and Still life any day. He's mellowed a lot though; he feels more comfortable in Soen.
Martin might be underrated, but only cuz he had to follow the greatness of Lopez.
@@tubelious yeah he do be tight af tho

Opeth is the kind of metal you listen while wearing your smoking jacket, sigar in one hand and a single malt whiskey in other.
Perfect description lol
I’ll take a dram of smokey, peat-blasted scotch please. 😁
I prefer it completely nude in the woods sitting on porcupine quills..
Mikael has the voice of the most beautiful of angels, Lucifer himself.
Opeth paints pictures with compositions. Always masterpieces. 🎨🖌🎼
Opeth play in a own League. 👑
So creative, very technical for
me actually one of the interesting
Band's. 👌
Thanks for this great react. 👏👏👏
my favourite instrument is: Opeth

I've seen opeth live 18 times. Notable opening acts were Devin Townsend, Ghost, Katatonia, Gojira and Mastodon.
Each of those sound like they'd make for an awesome night.
What a mindblowing Live Version.....one of the Best Swedish Bands ever.....this Voice....always Goosebombs!
**Best band ever
Deliverence,the drapery fall,master apprentice,blackwater park,the twilight is in my robe,forest of October,advent,grand conjuration
The moor
A very atmospheric and varied song. A work of art.
This is the song I always go to when introducing someone to progressive death metal. Fantastic rhythms to open, clean vocals, and relatable melodies. When the growls kick in, it's just another great transition.
You need to look up some footage of Mikaels crowd interaction. He’s very, very funny and makes a live Opeth show just that bit better.
my favorite instrument in this particular song is by far the play button

Should do some reactions to Opeth's old drummers band, Soen. Everything Soen does is gold, plus they appreciate reaction channels.
Soen is awesome
Another band I need to look up now lol
Oh, yes. Their recent single "Antagonist" is superb.
Soen is fabulous 🤘
Soen is the new Opeth in terms of maaterpiece music
The drapery falls....nuff said .....ohh and lyrical video version.... :P
They've had openers from Graveyard (70s rock vibe) to Gojira (super brutal)
I particularly love the bass in this one.
I would suggest Blackwater park next, the riffs are extra nasty there.
hypnotic final...
I saw them in Detroit right before the COVID shutdown in Feb 2020... Graveyard opened for them.
Not ashamed to admit that I’m jealous 😁🤘🏻

Probably my favorite Opeth performance. I love Mikael’s sense of humor. Lol

Some really great tracks from them. I always seem to run across the bands that have been disbanded, someone dies, or they just stop producing.

Part I( 2:58 - 7:20): the guitars, part II( 7:20 - 14:40): the bass and part III( 14:40 - the end): the drums.

When I saw maiden they had a hardcore band from the UK open since it was so different than their sound
I saw them i guess 3 or 4 times and Devin Townsend was there too;) Mesjuggah also;)
Opeth are progressive metal. There are no growls in their last 4 albums and they are still great.
Just a side note : Mikael was the vocalist for the band Bloodbath. He can sing everything. Too bad he decided to stop growling
He is still growling. Just Not on albums, and that is a shame I agree.
Blood Bath
Please check out the song Iconoclast by Symphony X. One of the best metal songs I've ever heard!!
request from tretzy (Opeth - Windowpane) is so beautiful and so clean..good luck
React to *Locust Star* by *Neurosis.* Such an atmospheric, dark and brutal sound.
Amazing band. Can you react to Cradle of Filth - A Gothic Romance
Wow. Fucking left field with some classic Cradle! Love it!
You guys really need to do more actual 'reacting', your videos always end like 20 seconds after the song does, but we're here to hear your thoughts!
Do check up between the buried and me
React majestica ghost of marley
im sure with those cheap earphones, cant get a decent sound...1with 83k subscribers im sure they can afford some more decent sound devices
They get paid for doing what we all do in our private, doubt that they care since they use the exact same headphones 2 years later
I'm sorry but what you said about Nirvana is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard
Take it easy mate..... and am not a nirvana fan by any stretch of imagination.

It worked with me, massive Nirvana fan, got straight into Opeth because of Kurts voice. Now I like two bands.
