  • Ranomafana National Park and the first encounter with the endemic Lemurs in the tropical rain forest was the highlight in this part of our Madagascar adventure. In terms of transportation we left Ranomafana on an easy but scenic ride on the main road down to the coast and the city of Mananjary. The serious offroad rides are still ahead of us.
Part two of the 14 days adventure ride in Madagascar.
    Enjoy the ride!

Excellent! Keep up making movies. I'm sitting at home with a broken leg due minor crash. Your movies bring delight to my monotonous days.

Thanks! Sorry to hear about your broken leg. I've been there myself, twice. It's a real bummer. Hope you recover quickly!

@mekwerk Did you have a crash with your 1250 GS?

@@PerWassberg Yes, on little forest road at abot 30 km/h. Front wheel slipped and my left foot poked on the ground. Leg broke just under knee and also knee suffered a bit. I'll have DonJoy joint until November 9th. Bike only got some minor scratches.

Was about to say it’s good your bike is OK. As I mentioned I got my feet stuck in roots and stubbs when riding enduro and turned them both 180 degrees backworth. Five years between the injuries. It’s now about 10 yesrs ago since the last broken legs, but now I start suffering again. My feet and ancels will never be what they were in terms of flexibility and painlessness. No pain, no gain. But nowadays I ride with alot bigger safety margins. Too old to breake more bones.
Get well quickly and pay full attention to your recovery training. It will pay off in the future. 🥰

You commented about a guide being a "pillion"? Please define. Wouldn't a lighter enduro bike, say 300cc, suit the conditions better? Great video. My friend is living there and I wanted to see the real street scenes. Cheers.

It turned out our guide never been in the area. He picked upp another guide who were a pillion on his bike…
We ordered proper offroad bikes for the tour but the tour operator came up with junk bikes with flat tire and suspension that was so warn they bottomed out when just sitting on the bike. Eventually we ended up with the BMW’s.
I didn’t want to misscredit the tour operator too much in the videos, but they didn’t do many things right.
      Cheers, Per

Lovely scenery. I've been reading up on Madagascar and didn't realise how large the country is (the second-largest island country and 4th largest island in the world) or how diverse the climate is ranging from rainforests to semi-arid. That and the fact that 90% of all plant and animal species found in Madagascar are endemic and that more than 80 percent of Madagascar's 14,883 plant species are found nowhere else in the world, including five plant families, makes it quite a unique place to visit. Thanks to the information on Wikipedia! 😁

I'm impressed! Yes, it is as big as Sweden and has been isolated in the Indian Ocean for 70 million years. It makes it a very special and unique place. As you will see more clearly in coming videos you also need a lot of time to travel Madagascar. :)
