Jawing at each other is to be expected in a high intensity game and it came from both sides. We're 16 - 0 against them since 2012. So Angel Reese is not scared of South Carolina. Who cares? We'd love to meet them in the tournament again.

In a show of sportsmanship after losing Staley put words in Bluder's mouth by adding "we're not thugs, we're not monkeys", a pathetic attempt to mischaracterize Bluder and to set her team up as race-victims. Staley went on , "this team exemplifies how you need to approach basketball - on the court, and off the court." . . . So today, we saw their example (and today wasn't the first time). Confusingly though, Staley today then contradicted her previous statement by saying "Sometimes these things happen.... That's not who we are.... I'm super proud of all of them... Do it the right way."

Dawn has always supported HBCUs, and Carolina was unremarkable before her arrival. Our university, state, and city have only improved since having her. I’m not sure how any of what you said applies to this or to basketball. We need to build bridges, not dwell on the past, nor should we resolve to cause harm to what women’s basketball is becoming.

Most HBCUs have a long road to travel to become adequate and helpful institutions for students, let alone top tier student athletes. The boards and administration at some HBCUs mimic Congress, they’re older, out of touch/sync, and lack vision for the health of the school. You can’t ask these athletes to sacrifice when most of playmakers at HBCUs don’t. Let’s clean up the attitudes, safety, and standards and the rest will follow. You don’t need dollars to have integrity.

There’s nothing wrong with having a teammate’s back but you also have to see the bigger picture; which in this case is being an ambassador for women’s sports and your WNBA draft stock. You have WNBA scouts, coaches, and owners tuning in to this high profile game and you blindside shove another player to the ground? It’s Cardoso’s 2nd incident ( the first was shoving a WNBA player in the back while she was representing Brazil) that was televised. Character and injuries are two of the top reasons college athletes’ stock plummet right before the draft. Be smarter, do better, and get paid.
