You know you need to grow this until it gets a few feet tall and you have to plant it somewhere good where you can appreciate it as you get older. That is if you don't have some property by then then to plant it in your own yard. When I was 20ish years old I grew a pine tree from seed by accident in my garden (My yard here in Southern California had 15 huge pine trees), when The "baby" pine tree got about 3 ft tall I carefully dug it out and I moved it to a local somewhat dried out creek bed where I thought it would get enough water to survive... That was 20 something years ago. Now when I drive by the street where I planted it I could see it starting to peak up over the little valley I put it in, If I had to guess it's now 25 ft tall I have it actually got out of my car and went down to it and looked at it but it has to be pretty tall if I can see it from the street because it was essentially in a hole in the ground lol. Pretty neat in my opinion.
@@plutonianfairyyou’re right, they have a very long tap root that grows straight down, if the tap root doesn’t grow straight it won’t be as strong as it could be and it probably won’t live for as long as it can.
Food grade Diatomaceous Earth is safe for pets, it won’t hurt the squirrels but it will deter them from eating in your garden, black pepper or peppermint works too
Oaks tend to have super long tap roots, so a good way to start them is with a tall pot! I work in conservation and we use 3’ pvc pipes, cut and capped on one side to make the pots
Nah that’s true it’s either she doesn’t grow something fully or it molds out or she makes us look for part 2 (which I can never find btw 💀) u ain’t trippin
She seems to suceed a lot to me. I see most of her faliures come from some of the werider stuff she tries just for fun and tropical plants that already have a hard time in America. And even then those have a lot of success even if small or temporary. I think the issue is a lot of her updates are spread out because plants take a lot of time to grow. So if she plants a seed in April, she might not have very showable results for several weeks or even months depending on how much growth she js waiting for.
I love how tiny trees already have big leaves. I once had by accident a tiny oak tree, not summer oak, the other variant, because i noticed big oak leaves laying round and wondered how they got there.
I managed to germinate and planted two maple trees not realize how big they grow as well as a silver birch which is gorgeous also quite big but the birds love them 😍
Jessy, Jessy again?😂dont’t let the squarrel destroy your new plants , I am saving the avocado bag and turn it i to a net to cover the top of the planter and is working
I have an oak tree too! It fell in a pot I had some soil in and it is teeny but still growing. The tap root grows down a few feet so I may transplant in a month or so but so far so good
Squirrels plant the acorns for us and we get Live Oaks and Spanish Red Oaks in our potted plants. Sometimes bonus Pecan Trees and Peanut plants. When Peanut plants show up someone inevitably complains about it on Nextdoor. Then the squirrels eat our expensive succulents instead. Deer eat everything else
You should get a good cat, mine loves to hangout with me in the backyard where all my fruits and vegetables grow and while we have plenty of squirrels, mice and raccoons I have almost no problem with them, sadly he’s turned 18 this year and age is starting to get to him but he still loves patrolling the backyard keeping it safe❤️
Is there a specific reason why you don’t put your pots in some sort of a mini garden house? I feel like almost every plant you try to grow it‘s getting eaten.
If you picked them fresh and they’re still green. Throw them in a Ziploc bag. Leave them alone for a few days, the moisture this and then we’ll make it germinate. Keep it in a warm place. And I know this works because a friend of mine gave me nuts that her son collected for me for my tree farm. And I had them in big Ziploc bags in a brown garbage bag for about five days and when I looked at them to try them out, they had 3 inch roots growing on a lot of them, and I think I planted 250 of them that year.
I did the same thing with the same results😂! Took acorns that dropped on the ground from a oak that was planted in the early 1950s to commemorate the opening of a new conference center lecture hall at our teaching hospital The tree was suffering significant decline and the clock was ticking on its final demise. They were wrapped in damp paper towels and ziplocked into the fridge for vernalization then planted in pots the following spring when they popped out a healthy giant tap root and 12 inch stems. Lined up 5 trees in a row on the patio satisfied this venerated oak would live on. Within a week the squirrels dug up and ate the acorn still attached to each new seedling and left only the decapitated stems and root remnants 😢! The tree was taken down that year and it was too late to replant it with its offspring😭. Damned those squirrels 🤬!!!
i accidentally keep growing oaks between my flowers on my windowsill bc the squirrels keep putting them in there. just put them in some soil in a pot and let it sit outside over the winter and you'll have a baby oak next year haha
I get hundreds of them sprouting in my mulch, the squirrels hide them in my mulch. I'm constantly plucking them out. Just bury them in mulch, they'll sprout
This oak is going to need a deep pot for the roots to be strong enough to live on the ground, they usually grow a few inches a year. If you want a bonsai, disregard everything i just wrote lol
Hit up the dollar general and grab yourself a few of those cinnamon brooms that are super cinnamon scented I had to do this so they'd leave my potatoes and carrots alone.
my granma got a wooden owl statue to keep her tomatos safe from the squirrels. worked for a few weeks but she didnt listen to me that she had to move it or they would get wise. she came home to one sitting on the statue eating her tomato while staring at her.
I hope to do a lot more this year only got 2 going from last year there going very strong though! Does any body know what it means if the leafs don’t grow all the same shape??
So we just gonna ignore the demonic "I love you 👹" 😭
We always do
Im not. I thought the way she changes voices was demonic as well.

that's so cool bc I would pick a terrible spot to transplant it to and the three foot tree would go to waste 😂
I heard for the first few years, oaks focus on developing a good root system... So it might be a better idea to transplant them earlier...
@@plutonianfairy that is true
@@samuelromero5786 It provides oxygen while it’s here. A plant will never be a waste. Plant one today! 😊

Your dog is soooo cute!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😭😭😭
Edit: tysm for the likes!!!💗

It will deter and even dry out and kill and pesky bugs too :^)
My dad uses water that he soaks hot chilis in. He swears by it! Meanwhile my hot pepper plants get munched up
That dog trying to sniff the acorns is just so adorable 😂

The dog's snoots is so adorable HAHAHAHHA
👍 Wonderful video art. Nice and effective work you have brought up!
Did you ever hatch those quail eggs?
Still in the fridge 😂😂😂😂😮
Oml ❤😂😭😭 the dog 😂😂😂❤❤😂😭😭😭😭
yes.
Plants vs. Squirrels sounds like a fun video game, lol.
Lolol i was just abt to say your squirrels know the good stuff ...always eating them up!
I never seen jesse succeeded in growing anything or is it just me

Never, she is just trolling.
There is absolutely no way squirrels are eating them that frequently

Did the same as a kid with a teeny weeny fir tree. Now, some 45 years later that tree is HUUUUUGE!
I was just waiting for the RAWR! At the end 😂
That snot 😂, lol I thought what the heck is this acorn ?? 🤣🤣

Plant as many of those as you can. White tail love white oak

Check to see how long the tap root grows some trees you have to get long pots to grow seedlings in..
Yooo she said "I love you" 🫠

Okay it took me a second to realize that's your dog's nose I thought that was like an acorn growing hair😂😂😂😂
You should be a voice actor

When harvesting acons put them in water and if they float throw them out and use the ones that sink.
I don't remember the exact quote but, Aldo Leopold once wrote "Oak trees grow due to rabbit scarcity or negligence."
lil tip you can put uhm plastic forks/spoons in the pot it kinda scares squirrels (ur dog is so cutee!)2
This video is amazing but I was wondering if you had any updates on the pumpkin molds? ❤❤❤
i accidentally keep growing oaks between my flowers on my windowsill bc the squirrels keep putting them in there. just put them in some soil in a pot and let it sit outside over the winter and you'll have a baby oak next year haha
Cover it in screening structure.
Day 3 of asking you if you will grow cloudberries
Also love the content

Wow
🎶 ITS A TALL OAK TREE ITS A STRONG OAK TREE 🎶
I was like what kinda fur lookin variety is tha--oh...also whatchu use for curious tree moochers?
I was so happy with your success😭😭😭

You didn't need to remove the acorn cap, and could have damaged the acorn by doing so. That may be why your little acorns didn't grow.
Im sick of the squirrels to!! They ate all my trees too
That squirrel probably buried 3,000 acorns. Don't bust him for being the wise, thrifty critter he is. 😂
I like the label Oak-A-Corn. I know it's written correctly, but my brain read it oak a corn. 🎉
Spray with capsaicin, squirrels hate spicy and so do bugs.
Why did I think the dogs nose was an acorn too? 😭😭
Hit up the dollar general and grab yourself a few of those cinnamon brooms that are super cinnamon scented I had to do this so they'd leave my potatoes and carrots alone.
Pet cages is good for growing plants. Put the plants in pet cages.
Was that a Brooklyn accent I heard
Just put in moist soil. They need stratification also. STOP GERMINATING IN PAPER TOWELS! ITS RIDICULOUS
Day 1 of asking you for an all plants update
I thought your dogs nose was an acorn with a toupee. 😂❤
At this point, I'm surprised you don't just put chicken wire around the things that you *know* squirrels are going to eat.
my granma got a wooden owl statue to keep her tomatos safe from the squirrels. worked for a few weeks but she didnt listen to me that she had to move it or they would get wise. she came home to one sitting on the statue eating her tomato while staring at her.
Rodents don't like mint maybe you could plant some in it's own pot because mint likes to take over the garden.
With acorns just throw them in some dryish dirt
Try covering the plants with a net to stop rodents
It's called vernalization, nerds.
I love you 👹
They grow like weeds for me 😢😂
Lol why don't you cage your new growths? 😅
What oak tree is this?
Oh, it may be quercus bicolor/white swamp oak or an english oak.
I hope to do a lot more this year only got 2 going from last year there going very strong though!
Does any body know what it means if the leafs don’t grow all the same shape??
Magnificent isn't it ,a little thing turning into serious WEIGHT
I accidentally grow acorns because they fall in the soil pots
That tree is way old than 2yrs...
wow the squirrels didnt eat them this time
44:40
not me wondering why why there was an acorn with shiny blonde hair
Jessie what if I offered you a position as the lead singer in my death metal band would you accept?🤔
I wish I had your skills and patience. Me and my siblings would always be trying to grow something but, no luck 🤷♀️
kill that squirrel with kindness by giving its descendants a home in 10 years
Throw those oak trees away. They are a pain
Grow watermelon
Stand outside with a BB gun and take out the squirrel. Sometimes your life and your resources matter more than others.
Maybe get a cat
Barbie? No, I wouldn’t have thought you were into such nonsense
