Yep! That’s true, they were a very peaceful tribe and you can visit a lot of sights that have to do with Moriori folklore and their legacy. We found the ladies at Marae super helpful and welcoming 🙂
Hi hope you enjoyed it over here. Who showed you around Pitt? I live there, so I’m just curious. Its cool to see home from other peoples perspective ☺️
That's a great question. I think there are a few amenities (i.e. hotels/ rooms) but also you need to do some preparing (especially around food etc.) before getting there. If you are used to traveling to remote places it should be easy... if you are used to all-inclusive resorts you will need to adapt quite a bit. The locals for the most part are super helpful, but also most attractions are in their farms, so if something happens you might miss out on seeing it- it doesn't happen that often though.
These tiny islands anywhere in the world always look amazing in pictures and videos but they also looks extremely boring for me a person from central Europe :D Nothing but dry road going through empty landscapes, beautiful beaches but empty. I'd love to visit but living there must be a bit dull on the other hand it's also safe, calm and clean.
Don't know if you know this, but the Chathem Islands are the very last places to be settled by a non-European, having no humans on it until 1500 CE, around the time Leonardo Da Vinci was still alive.
What do you think of this amazing place? Is the Chatham islands on your bucket list?

So are the Chatham Islands set up for tourism or is it something that is just tolerated by the locals?
