  • We find ourselves overlanding the Georgia Traverse meshing with the Trans America Trail on our trip into Georgia. We dive deep into the 'Cohutta Wilderness Area' riding a vast percentage of the GA Traverse as we intersect the TAT later on down the trail.
This is one of our favorite parts of Georgia since we used to take trips up here with friends years ago while living in Florida. This part of Georgia is an overlanders paradise!
While heading south through the Nantahala National Forrest of North Carolina we found ourselves suddenly riding the bumpy back roads of Tennessee and again into Georgia. We made a decision to head South Into GA on the Big Frog Loop and continue the trek west from there.
We enjoyed this part of GA and spent the entire day driving the traverse until we met back up with the TAT back up into TN. Stoked for Overland Expo this year. Cant wait to see you guys there.
Thanks for tuning in! Be sure to Like and Sub for more epic stuff!

It's May 2022 and I just finished the loop there in Ga and Tn just a few weeks ago. Wonderful ride.

Check out Foxwing awnings, you could add the side walls and use as a tent.

Just found your channel based on the Google comment you left for this campsite. Plan to do the GA Traverse this December. We’re from Tampa, what part of FL are you from?

Almost all of it! We started it at the Big Frog Loop on the border. Such a great trek. Highly recommend it to any overland enthusiast.

Thanks for sharing what brought you to this point. Do you feel you needed the full year to prepare for the trip or was that just the timeline that worked out since your lease was ending?

We put in the prep work in order to get ready for this expedition across North America. It wasnt over a night or two, we spread our prep work over a few months. Buying the Jeep parts and gathering our supplies needed to stay off grid self sustained. It has been epic so far and YES we are loving these water crossings! Thanks for tuning in!

Just FYI, it's pronounced cUH-hUH-tUH, not cUH-hOO-tUH. There's also 90 miles of hiking trials in the Cohutta Wilderness Area, plus another 35 miles in the Big Frog Wilderness just to the north. Plus two good waterfalls - Jack's River Falls and Panther Creek Falls. Towards the south side, Lake Conasauga (Con-UH-sAW-gUH) is the highest elevation lake in Georgia at 3150'. Good camping there as well. Finally, just because I can't help myself, it's Nanta-HAYla. Not Nanta-Hah-la. Good video. Good luck!
