I went to the store 1 night. 11.30 PM I saw a male 6 foot 190 pounds, obviously intoxicated on some form of substance. This young woman. Maybe 20 21 years old came to the store on her electric scooter. He kept harassing her for change. I waited at the store with holding the door open while she locked her moped. Then I was done but waited outside until she was done and left on her scooter. he followed me to a certain degree but because of how the streets are in my neighborhood I lost him. I used to live on another street 5 years ago and I was proud that women, mainly younger ones going home from work and was walking on dark streets to get home. i would be standing on my porch at 1 am smoking a cig and watching that no one was harassing anyone. Today isn't the same and in one sense immigration is an issue while a huge increase in drug usage is another. My solution to stop the harassments and begging is to not give anything. Nothing. Just go about your business. It eventually discourages them to beg.

I have lived in Montreal for over 30 years, there has always been violence, its a city, that's a given. However before people blame the mayor and other politicians, its all starts at home. If you don't want your kids on drugs, teach them the harmful effects. If kids come from a neglected, abusive or drug addicted home, 99% they will end up angry adults, homeless, violent, and drug addicted themselves. My father told us when we were young, to never use drugs, and we don't. It all starts in the home. We must all keep a watch over each others children. If you see a neighbors family and child having problems, then step in and give that child care and guidance, it will make a world of difference. All these children will be the future, and so help the most vulnerable now, and you will see less crime.
