"Intense" -Yes, Dave was certainly much angrier when he was younger and that is part what makes both his Blackboxes so outstanding, you can hear his passion and fury in his rapping, emphasis and his moves. That "are you f#cking mad" line 7:58 gives me chills every time, and describing the breakdown. Emotions are raw.
In his latest work, anger and passion are still coming through, but yes in a more controlled way, channeling them through rapping, but also more and more through the melody and his beloved piano. I often play his tracks as instrumentals, and they are super emotional, especially Black and Survivor's guilt, some of them could easily pass as classical music.

Many will argue, disagree, but I feel that he is a better version of Tupac. I shouldn't compare him though, but to make a point, he migjt not have cadence or platform as many US rappers, but he got bars, and storytelling, what is scary is that he is under 25. Imagine when he reaches his peak. I hope he never reached that yet. He is not a rapper, he is an English genius. That combination of streets and vocab, is what makes him great.
