- The Sea of Thieves 2024 Preview showed us what to expect from this year's updates (A month ago, I'm late, again...). My friend Paper and I had different opinions about some of the features presented in the event, so we decided to sit down to explain and discuss everything that's coming in 2024!

Pistol just makes the shotgun rather useless so takes something out of the game and put essentially the same thing in the game
The Blunderbuss is still a lot better than the double barrel pistol. They both can work in different situations, but the shotgun is miles better imo. But I do get what you're saying
The harpoon gun will be interesting but i'm here for the chaos. I think the game will be fine either way it goes. Even if it makes it easier to board that person still has a disadvantage only having the one weapon and the crew to contend with.
I totally agree! Chaos is what makes SoT such a good game! It will be interesting to see how the harpoon gun will change things, but it won't "ruin the game" as some people are saying
the features all look like alot of fun tbh the things im hoping for is for them to give stuff to the hunters call and new voyages cause i dont pvp alot so im always more interested in pve content tbh
tbh my fave feature coming is the sniper rifle thats a harpoon cause i will always prefer the sword in these fights
An update to hunter calls is something they NEED to add at some point. So many people in the community are asking for one. Even if it's not this year, I feel like we're getting closer to such an update! Fingers crossed!

Don't worry, for the first year and a half of playing this game I didn't steal anything, only after Paper joined me my Romanian instinct activated :))
PS5 will save sea of thieves, not 2024
True, I forgot to talk about that in the video but PS5 will definitely bring a lot of attention to the game this year! But the other features are nice as well!

What the game needs is a pvp overhaul, not side-grade weapons that will only be used in the first months before later being abandoned by most of the playerbase.
I agree that a pvp overhaul would be nice, but what would it change/add if they did something like that? I don't think the new weapons will be abandoned after five months. Sea of Thieves is at the end of the day a game about style. The fact that cosmetics are the main progression in the game confirms this. The double barrel pistol and especially the throwing knives are all about style! Even if in the competitive pvp sub-niche the new weapons won't be used, the larger player base will still use them. But that's just my opinion, sorry for writing a paragraph lol
@@CaptainGigel Nah ur good. I'm just tired of how unforgiving the cowboy "TDM" meta is and the grapple hook gun they're going to be adding will only exacerbate the problem, except then it'll probably just become the "I hook you right infront of me, then blunderbuss-instakill you" meta.
I agree that Sea of Thieves is about style, but in certain aspects (such as pvp) you have to sacrifice your play style just for a better chance to keep your riches.
I love sword fighting, can't do that because double gunning is just objectively better and I've had to force myself into learning that play style just to keep up with the more hardcore players who are also the most likely to go looking for a fight. I have been hoping for a proper rework for years but it never comes and I'm just very disappointed.
I understand that, I never thought about the fact that you could harpoon and then blunder a player. This could be a really bad issue with the harpoon gun, I think they should just remove the fact that it can harpoon items and players and only allow you to harpoon objects. It won't fix it completely, but it will help a little.
I also love sword fighting, I think it's the best way to play a pirate game and I hope they make it a more viable option in pvp. Also I refuse to double gun, I just don't like it :)
