I would stick with the truth, but practice articulating it well. Most hiring managers will not ask this question as they want someone to just do the job. It's pretty transactional in that respect. Personally I would focus on highlighting how my skills, experience and values are more tailored to contracting, and you are wanting to explore this new option. ChatGPT give you some ideas also in terms of articulation in the meantime
Thank you! There isn't a straight answer and depends on many factors such as your niche, industry and market. What you could be asking is, "Am I confident enough to do X role?" - if no, aim to determine why and build on gaining that experience. Or you can just go into it and see what happens 🙃
