7:28 Fun fact: The "I hope you're happy" part is played 3 times since Glinda originally sang that bit 3 times. They cut it down to 1 "I hope you're happy" during the 2003 try-out in San Francisco but left the orchestration parts in. Reason for why they cut it was that it all sounded too much together (Elphaba singing Bring Me Down, the ozians singing their part and Glinda coming through with the IHYHs). The notes the guitarist plays there are almost identical to the notes Glinda would've sung the other 2 IHYHs
I love even on parts where you are about to stop playing, you still set up for the next chord in the song but just don't play it! The sign of a true professional there man... Thanks so much for the upload. I absolutely love videos from the orchestra pit like this! I can't tell you how happy this made me!
Absolutely amazing! The electric guitar is something I've always loved during this song and to hear it over the rest of the orchestra is brilliant! The guitarist is really hot too!
I agree. Looking at the guitar part itself, it has some half note chords on beat 3, however above that it says "fill" overtop of 3 measures, so let the guitarist playing the part have some fun, and in some cases just show off :P
Wow...
I will admit I don't play guitar ( I play trombone and tuba ) but have watched this video a few times both because its an amazing show and great playing, but also I will admit very good looking player as well ... I could watch him play all night long.
Was the run at 6:55 written in the score, or were you able to throw that in yourself? Were you using amps here or were you using an amp simulation to go direct? Great tone and fantastic work!
Hey there!! No, that "run" is not written. And there wasn't physical amplifier, the electric guitar sound comes from Fractal Axe FxII. Thanks for your comment. ✌😃
LOL yeah was gonna say score I believe originally has half note chords on 3 and 4 of Gb, Ab, Db ( adding the 5th and the octave to each of the 3 listed before ) for 3 of the measures.
This is honestly my favorite video on TH-cam. So cool to hear all the guitar parts clearly and see you play them. There is so much more going on that I realized! Do you have videos of any of your other pit work (Wicked or others)?
Igor Aviz Muchas gracias! Usamos Guitarras (eléctrica, acústica nylon, acústica texana, acústica de 12 cuerdas) , banjo y mandolina. Saludos y gracias por escribir. ✌🏻😉🎸
Hi Jordan! Thanks for your comment. I could tell you that most of the whole show. But I do have my favorites: -Defying Gravity -No good did -One short day -For good. -Dancing through life. -The Wizard and I -No one mourns the Wicked.
Muchas gracias!!! Saludos!!
Omg!! I’ll try to remember the must I can. CONDUCTOR - Isaac Saúl - Bass - Dante Pimentel - Drums - Julio Morán - Guitar - JC Lozano (me) - Perc - Oscar Peralta - keyboard 1 - Fabian Espinoza - key 2 - Jorge Vidales - key 3 - Gerardo Ruiz - key 4 - Carlos Ramírez - trumpet - John Urness - flutes - Alejandro Vazquez - Horn - Horacio Huertas - Clarinet - DON’T REMEMBER I’m missing some other instruments and players names , for sure! Used to be around 15 orchestra members. With some alternate musicians and substitutes. But must of those names can be heard on this video. Thanks for your comment! 🙌🏼

Edgard López Muchas gracias!! :D
I never would have guessed some of those parts were done using an E-Bow. I always thought they were picked with glissandi up and down the fretboard.
Jejeje yes! And it’s notated in the scores.

Shaun LikeTheSheep thanks again, I´m glad to know that :D. And yes... I´ll be part of The Lion King Mexico orchestra too. :D
This is amazing. Great clear sound, and super interesting to watch. Are you still playing in Wicked?
Thanks a lot for your comment.
And… no! unfortunately on January 2015 was the last show.
Love this so much! Would you happen to have your guitar cam footage for "As Long as You're Mine" and "The Wizard and I" ? 😊

Awesome job man! As an amateur pit guitarist I would love to know what kind of rig you're running. I currently use the Line 6 Helix LT!
Amazing! You are absolutely amazing!
