I have loved Bette Midler's version of this song since I was a college student in 1980, when all that was available to me was listening to it on vinyl. To see this video is such an extraordinary treat. Thank you so much! Jane
The Harlettes here are from L-R Linda Hart, Katey Segal, and is that Melissa Manchester on the far right? I'm sure of the first two, but can't tell whether or not the third is Melissa?
Melissa Manchester, by far the best backup singer and foil to the divine miss m, left very early on. She didn’t even do Carnegie hall with miss m. Unfortunately, there are no recordings of miss m at the capital in Passaic. Never saw anything like that performance.
@alibrighteyes I was just wondering if that was Melissa Manchester -- she did the original back up on the recording, but I can't tell if that's her or not...
Melissa Manchester left really early. MGM pretty much was different girls by the Carnegie hall concert. Robin grean appeared a few times later on, but Melissa and Merle Miller left early on. Anyone have a recording from the capital theater in Passaic? Raw.
This is fairly early, but she already is doing a parody of herself. Camp has to be done seriously to work. She's transitioning into Bette midler, basically clowning it up. Bette midler should be in prison for murdering the divine miss m. Is this really what bill Hennessy expected his creation to become.
Wow, does Katey Segal's voice come through!!
Bette amazing as always.......thanks for the share Delagosis !!!!
