Good, Bad, Ugly: Bonnie & Clyde Opening Previews First Impressions! (Garrick Theatre 2023)

- Bonnie & Clyde is back in London's West End, with some really great changes, and some which... just don't work.
Here are my impressions from preview night 1, with as much actionable feedback as possible!

The Arts theater production was perfection
Agreed, every time I went at the Arts I could hardly believe how amazing it was - and how intimate in such a dinky little theatre!!
I should note - it's still very, *very* good at the Garrick IMO -- and having seen it again now and sat in the Stalls rather than up above in the nosebleeds, the lost in the stage issue I mentioned is def less of a problem down there because you can't see the full depth of the stage as easily. Not exactly a "solution" per se but at least good to know that it improves things! 😊
This is such a tiny nitpick but why the hell is Blanche blonde in both of these productions? Blanche, historically, had raven black hair.
I didnt go at the Ark. I watch the half concert ,half stage version when Jeremy Jordan did at the begining. But i plan to watch the show next week. So i dont hv anything to compare wz tge Ark version. Hope it s still enjoyable :)
i saw B&C last night having never seen it before and was blown away! its a fantastic show however every change that ive heard been made is kinda making me feel sad:( i love the sound of the interaction with clydes younger self and i think to have children involved with a production like this adds a whole other dimension. innocence in such a violent world.
having been obsessed with the show for a solid 24 hrs now, i also need a uk cast recording. im a huge fan of Jeremy Jordan, he sounds great but Jordan L-G brang a harsher, almost more psychotic tone through his vocals that i thought was DOPE. i also saw alternate bonnie who i must say stole the show for me, she was incredible. every emotional beat was nailed and she was insane vocally!
I saw it more recently and some of things you noted as issues, I didn’t see at all. Unless I was just too engrossed in the show😂 I think they may have changed some of the smaller issues
Just seen this for the first time, seems like a lot of the things they removed from the original would have been better left unchanged. They haven’t changed the salon scene. Buck still just hides at the front of the stage and the sheriff still turned when drinking the lemonade. He was clearly not even drinking which was what made me laugh.
I’ve heard other people say similar there were issues with the lights, projections and set but I didn’t notice anything distracting. Might have been because I was sat near the centre of the Grand Circle.
It’s an interesting observation made about the space. Looking back, a the smaller space would have better suited a few scenes but it’s not something I noticed at the time.
I enjoyed the show overall, glad I got the chance to see it before it closes in May.

What's wrong with giving feedback while there's actually room for that feedback to be acted upon?
For the record Beth, based on your comment I've updated the title to First Impressions to hopefully make things clearer, didn't realise this was something that might be a problem. Big fan of the show and only want the best for it either way :)
