Best of times. Slept under a truck in the parking lot at this race. What stories you must have! Swartz is a pioneer of the sport and one of my heroes. Great interview with Swartz in this video. Maybe you'll see yourself.
Never Nervous Jeffery Purvis. Going into this World he is making his 8th start at Eldora. Accumulating an one 8th place finish , four 3nd place finishes, and 3 wind. And he parks two of the Triplets (campaigned 3 Cars this seaons) in the top 5 qualifiers.
as a kid in Winchester TN we watched Purvis roll in late from Clarksville. It was over when he pulled up to the gate. even missing qualifying. Shame the cup path could not have turned out different. Once he got the 21 car from Childress it looked like things were on the upward. Childhood hero
I didn't know Ed Sanger won the World 100.... I used to watch him race as a kid in Waterloo, Iowa during the 70's Was Scott Bloomquist wearing eyeliner? ;-)
89 was our first trip to Eldora. Seeing all those cars left me speechless. Man was it cold that night! The way Moran rode that wall and lapped field twice was Amazing. Gill had his chances. Wheel Man for sure. Friendly. We were blessed to see these guys race.
Grew up watching amazing racing there every weekend with my dad and brother. Definitely had fun on the stars night during 4th of July. His son races there now. His track still opens up every year. He still has that same car from this video that he won. He was just on the news with it some years ago.

I was there and saw Donnie win the Million! I being a Gill fan wish he could have got one of the the big Eldora shows while he was racing!
