I still have the same reaction and feel the same you do whenever someone is needlessly rude. It's not easy to stay calm about that, it really is rude when someone acts like that, but sadly, i'm pretty sure staying calm is the right way to handle that bullshit. If it works then you might be rewarded with an apology and mutual understanding from the other person
And if it doesn't the other guy would just think that you're some wuss that he can push around.

Anger management conflict resolution and deescalation are a process we go through as we observe the problem, synthesize than apply a solution that relates to the person based on the unique experience according to their demeanour with calm compassion and self control than all sides will compromise and be happy too!
it's very cool that you chose to be the better man. You reacted well to person who wanted desperately to have a fight, he made every escalation and every aggression. I'm glad to have seen someone not so beholden to their pride that they think any transgression is worth any consequence. Usually the internet does not supply me with such examples. That you chose to let it go in the end is admirable to, even if it was just to avoid the hassle

As a cyclist, I can say that was a VERY expensive bike. Off topic, but maybe worth knowing for someone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ He breaks your camera, all you have to do is give that bike one solid blow and it would snap. Carbon frames tend to do that.
When someone threatens you make sure u have your hands up near your face or put a hand out just to put some space between you and them when they try to proceed into your space to hit you but remember if you do put your hand out your face is vulnerable to a strike from the side your hand is out. But the best way to deal with situations like this just be clam and don’t let anger take over you. Angry people need angry people to have a fight with.

I'm not a aggresive person - but if someone threathens me - or hurts me physically or has the intention - that person can expect a heavy retaliation. I don't give a shit what people think about me - how I style myself - how much money I make. But I have my personal space. And if you cross that border with Ill intent. I wouldn't doubt it to end with one side being heavily injured or killed. At least you had the camera to prove anything if the police showed up.

I can understand him being angry at the stink of the paint. But people (including me) need to learn to communicate better. He certainly was not right to threaten you. His anger should be at the ones who made it legal to paint on his wall..not the guy who is legally painting on a wall that's allowed.

I understand the house owners point, he probably has to deal with rude and disgusting teenagers every day that are disrespectful and threaten him while spraying profane shit on the wall. The thing is, he just assumed you are one of those people and didn't even give you a chance and vented all of his frustration on you.... Probably had a really bad day.
