    I had a failsafe on a Flywoo LR 4 inch quad at 200meters. I spent an hour searching for it and found it in high grass in a field as the sun was setting. If I hadn't had a buzzer on it I may not have located it. The RTH feature on DJI is amazing insurance that you'll most likely get your quad back. Nice review, thank you!

    I’m planning to get out into the Scottish mountains from spring onwards when there’s longer daylight hours …what kind of return to home altitude would you set amongst mountains ? …I’m thinking that if you were to take off from sea level then fly it up along the ridges then back down, firstly would it even reach the peaks, I guess dependent on the height of the mountain, but if it lost connection I am guessing that using my usual RTH altitude of 100ft it could potentially crash or would it stop, I’m guessing not if it’s in sport or manual mode ?
    Other than out in the wild, don’t think I will fly this beyond about a kilometre …just need to find some locations with plenty of cinematic flight paths

      The drone tracks it’s home point so when you lose all communications with it, it rises to a predetermined altitude and flies back to the home point, once he gets close enough you will regain all video and control and you can keep flying or land it yourself

    Thanks for the video, long range (and maybe over water) is one reason I'm thinking about picking this up. When it comes to a failsafe, Betaflight's GPS Rescue is no match for DJI's RTH.

    • @jonasw1404
      @jonasw1404 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @bp328i
      @bp328i 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jonasw1404 When I say Betaflight I'm talking about the DJI air and vista units, not the actual DJI FVP Drone that DJI sells. You can add a GPS unit to your flight controller and set it up in Betaflight so if you lose signal instead of your quad just disarming and falling out of the sky it will switch to angle mode and fly back in the direction where it took off from. This allows you to reconnect as it gets closer and take back over. As far as RTH working on the DJI FPV Drone even in manual mode, I believe it does. I never ended up buying the DJI FPV Drone, I build my own.

    Has anyone ever tried what happens if you start your flight at let's say 10 meters above see level, your RTH height is 50 meters and you fly up a slope to about 600 meters?
    Does the drone try to get down to 50 meters and crash into the slope, does it return 600 meters high in the sky or does it try to get lower and follows the slope according to its sensors?

    • @InfinityDrones

I repl;ied with a link to the video of this but clearly that was not allowed here, sorry, didn't know that. But anyway, i've had less luck with the range of this drone, as long as there is clear line of sight: no problem, as soon as there is something blocking the LOS, failsafe kicks in. Fortunatelly i haven't had this in tight spaces yet so RTH saved the drone.

    If I wanted to buy it I would have ordered a US FCC version from the USA with a 10 km range.

      It wouldn't help, the GPS detects your location and limits you to 25mW automatically

      Depend where you are, often CE is if you in Europe or FCC if like in America, hate it more strict in Europe

    30 m altitude got you to 2 km!? That's a damm flat meadow. Pretty sure you could have gotten more if you increased altitude. I get 2 Km with my Mini 2 in a radio infested city, 2 Km free range is down right embarrasing.

    Try it at 300m for a range test.

    The environmental section from your local Town Hall (or whoever) should take good notes about the huge ilegal dumping places your drone recorded. What a real shame!!!
