Rose was born in New Zealand but raised in Australia. At age 15 in 2012, she won the audtion and moved to South Korea. She was heavily trained and competed with other girls for 4 years. I think this is her song reflecting back to her old self and her current self. With this song, you need to listen between the lines and take your cues with the video.
Love this one, the person that's she's singing about, that she misses every day, is herself, before she became famous. Near the end of the video she visits her old home and meets her past self, who dreams about becoming famous and writes ROSÉ on the mirror, her stage name. The name changes to ROSEANNE, her real name, showing that Roseanne is who she truly is. At the end of the video she is happy that she "found" herself again, she is now grounded in what's really important and can truly ascend to her fame. FYI, She's a Kiwi (New Zealander) but also raised in Australia, and she was born within a Korean family, so technically she has 2 nationalities...
Furthermore ''ON THE GROUND" fairly could depicted into two ways of thought process, one way would be seen as a romantic sad song and another one is more like a self-reflection about our life journey, but well just lemme write a lil bit of ON THE GROUND's interpretation :
Basically the song is kind of about looking for answers in life, for a purpose in life, and how deeply nowadays people can relate to it. Sometimes when you’re always kind of on that roll, you kind of forget to take care of what actually matters to you most, and it’s just a song that says that everything we need is already within us. There’s no need to go out and look for it.
Or you could also see it as the story telling about a girl who works so hard to chase her dreams so that she can reach the top and tell the world there’s no coming down. But once she reaches the top, she realizes that all she needed was on the ground.

5:03 its not a love song, shes talking about her old self, the way she used to feel when she was younger, in the last bridge shes looking at her old self and even writes her real name Roseanne and Rosé (while saying ''just drove by your house, so far from you now'') that is who she was before she became Rosé (that is just her stage name), shes basically saying that she worked her whole life, she has it all now but the most important things in life are your family, friends, things you cant buy

Rosé is more of an Indie girl, you won't find that "edgy" sound found in BLACKPINK songs, but she has a real passion for music (she talks about it in their Netflix doc). If you want more of that smooth voice, she was recently on a TV reality show called SEA OF HOPE, the performances were all on the beach for a small group of people. I never really been a k pop fan.. I listened to BTS, Straykids and i can ser that their talented but not really me. Didn't really speak to me.. But then a good while ago ago the channel i mod for did Blackpink and *How you like that* and i was like what the f.. Is this.. Completely different from other stuff iv heard before and the drops in their songs.. Mental.. Absolutely ridonkulus if that is even a word..
And their videos are so good. And iv heard that they rearly use a green screen..
This is not what i usually listen to but i have no problem listening to these girls.. I think I've listen to most of what they have and all of it is so good.
Most of them if not all of them have solo songs which is really good too except Lisa she dances too and she is a really good dancer too..
Some of their live concerts is worth checking out. Its the same songs but with different beats and they are really good too. I cant remember the name of the concert but i think it had Tokyo in the name. But i think someone will probably recommend them sooner than later...

I’m really happy for Rose for having her solo songs which I can sense she loved it. She put her heart into the songs. Also Jennie “solo” and Jisoo haven’t have her solo song yet but prob soon she have her drama though called “snowdrop” it’s available on Disney+ or Koreandisney+ I guess.

The person she is singing to in the song is not actually a love interest. She is singing to herself before she became famous and basically telling herself she misses the person she was when she was younger and didn’t have anything but music.
The deepest understanding of this song (it works on many levels, of course) but best if you think she is basically singing to herself...missing her earlier self.
