    I've always been confused with Air Canada and the Aeroplan points program. This is by far the best and most comprehensive review and explanation video I've come across on TH-cam clarifying all these points structures (especially the confusing SQM, SQS, and SQD). Amazing video and keep up the great work Ricky!

    They make it as confusing and convoluted as possible, you practically need a lawyer to understand how Aeroplan works. Either they're trying to confuse their consumers so they don't actually get the promised value out of what they offer, or the marketing team that developed the new Aeroplan is just absolutely clueless in making an easy-to-understand program for customer retention.

    Hi Ricky, firstly, thanks for this video love your content and how it's all broken down. One of the pieces of information that I haven't grasped since the change to the New Aeroplan, is how upgrades in partner or AC flights work. Like say, booking on a certain class economy fare on EVA and using your miles to upgrade yourself to business class. I believe you covered this topic prior to November 2020 but would love to hear whether that side of the system has changed. Thanks man!

  • @paulmang5840
    @paulmang5840 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Ricky, I like your videos a lot. I have two questions about SQD. 1) Is the amount you spend on AC tickets the same amount of SQD you get? So if I spend $1,500 on a return flight I'll get 1,500 SQD? 2) If I buy an 8 pack of Flight Passes where I can give a pass for someone else to use. Do I get all the SDQ when I buy the 8 pack flight pass or do I get them as I redeem them myself? So if a friend uses a flight pass, I won't get the SQD for my friend pass? Thanks, please make the eupgrade video soon.

    • @aselwyn1
      @aselwyn1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if your booking on the Air Canada website you can see your SQD by looking for "Air transportation charges". the other section labeled "Taxes, fees and charges" are not going to earn you SQD

    • @PrinceofTravel
      @PrinceofTravel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1) Yes, minus the third-party taxes and fees. So it's more like you'll earn ~1,300-1,400 SQD for a $1,500 ticket. 2) For Flight Passes, I believe SQD is earned by the traveller, not the purchaser. So if you give the Flight Pass credit to a friend, you won't get the SQD for that portion of the overall SQD value.

    • @paulmang5840
      @paulmang5840 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PrinceofTravel Thanks Ricky. For 2) that is what I think too. But I did call AC and the Representative said after polling co workers, the buyer would get all the SQD upon buying the Flight Pass. That would be a fast way to earn SQD for buying friends tickets if that was true.

    Hello Ricky, thank you again for a great video. Question, I don't normally pay for my flight because I get lots of points through credit cards for my business. I just got my TD aeroplan business visa which 100K point is not going to be a problem. Also $6K SQD is not going to be a problem. But I want to get to the 50K status. Is it possible, if so how? I believe you said in the previous video that at the 50K status, you get a discount on flight when book with points (is it just for economy or business as well)?

    • @PrinceofTravel
      @PrinceofTravel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You get a discount on the flight even with 25K status, and the difference in the discount compared to 50K isn't too meaningful.

    Hi Ricky,
    Thank you for your videos and website - thanks to you, this week I:
    ☆did a TD Rewards→Aeroplan PS to earn 20K Aeroplan points
    ☆used the Aeroplan points purchase 80% bonus to stock up with 56,000 bonus points received (had to spend $2100 gulp!)
    ☆this met my PS TD Aeroplan minimum $1000 spend for 10,000
    ☆applied for CIBC's Aeroplan for another 20K
    ☆will upgrade my TD chequing from 3k to 4k to earn another 10000!
    That's 106,000 in a week!!!
    My credit score is good at TU851 and the other at 831 (creditfax??) so what would you recommend next? I can meet all the elite cards' minimum income but I'm cheap as can be, so typically away from 5-700 annual fees (much rather invest it!)
