Hello. Could you please help me here? I have a bunch of latigos, random leathers, and mismatched saddles. I was trying to conch on a western I got my daughter and had a terrible time fin=ding the right cinch as they were either too long or too short. So, how can I properly use your standard latigoes (new leather not worn and easy to work with) onto my western cinch?
That's why I don't like western saddles, the metal rings on the cinch dig into the horses sides. Comfortable for the rider, uncomfortable for the horse.
Love these tips!!! I have started using these visual assessments each time I cinch up any horse. Thanks so much!!

There are different types of cinches. Most that I have seen have padding around the ring to make it comfortable for the horse.
me either, plus almost all western saddles are too long and put pressure on the lumbar section of the horse!
this is not comfortable for the horse, your girt is too short!
