    This explains momota footwork and defence very clearly! I had been trying to keep low for some time, and it definitely helps with smash defence, as Kenichi said, if you have line of sight on smash from down up, and not look at coming shuttle from up, you have better chance to retrieve smashes!

    Aloha Coach Ken, thank you for the English translation. I greatly admire you and have been trying to follow your Japanese videos. This video has shown me how much depth your videos reveal. You truly show secrets on footwork only known by professionals. There is so much shared in this video. Key points like making sounds inside circle, quiet outside; pushing off strongly moving from 100% to 70%; adjusting home position so simple but important; keeping body low; leading with racquet at net; and using line of sight from down to up, catcher analogy hits home. Awesome video, full of very useful information. Looking forward to more translations. I know how much work it takes to put this all together. It is greatly appreciated. Arigato Coach Ken.

    U have over 34K views on this video...33k are probably from me. I love badminton, and I wish you kept playing. I r the most charismatic to watch. I love the libe of sight u explained. And how to super fast in middle and then slow it to 70% when close to bird.
    I also found it interesting how u move to back overhead spot, by taking one shuffle to left then going back. I have se3n nozymi okuhara do this also.
    I was wondering if I could connect my yoga video on how to stretch legs and relieve them to your channel and this video. They are helpful vids for leg recovery. 🙏🏻

      Never want to drag your feet. They are supposed to work one right after the other almost immediately.

    Can someone please help me better understand what he means by same level or down to up only? I don't understand completely what he means

    • @lalithrockz
      @lalithrockz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What i understood is when shuttle drops in front of you and you are standing with your knees straight then it is hard to suddenly drop from knees straight to knees bent. If you are aware of center of gravity then keep your centre low such that when the shuttle drops in front of you you move up to meet the shuttle. Im short it is better to slightly bend your knees, keeping waist low and move around the court than to be up right and then dropping your whole body to hit the shuttle at the last second. Hopefully you understood what i meant if not just watch the video on repeat till you see the difference in his posture.
