    Nice shots, and very nice choice of camera. It's one of my favorite cameras, because it hits a sweet spot with regards to ease of use, when you are used to using rangefinder cameras and size.
    I had to "settle" for the Leica version of the lens myself, because the Minolta version is very difficult to find around here. In reality, I'd rather have the Minolta CLE and the Minolta M-rokkor lens, than the Leica versions, because I'm a Minolta fanboy, but I manage fine with the Leica branded versions ;-)
    It's funny with film price differences, in Denmark, Fomapan is cheaper than Kentmere - I guess it has to do with Brexit...

    How is its flatness? I find some cheaper films have very thin backing, for want of a better term, and curl like crazy. Which makes putting them in scanner film holders a maddening exercise.
    One thing I do appreciate about your channel is the few seconds of blank video at the end which gives me time to hit the Like button and avoids TH-cam’s terrible habit of popping up viewing suggestions as one is winding up the video.

Thanks for the feedback! Sometimes I forget to leave a few seconds, but yeah it's nice when you can properly wind down rather than TH-cam whisking you off to the next consumable content :)

  • @lloydgarland4667
    @lloydgarland4667 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very good video and lots of good positive things to say about Ilford's Kentmere range of camera films. First I need to point out that I don't like a lot of grain, neither do I like "flat photographs", much preffering to use T-grain emulsions if I go to (or beyond) ISO 200. I love contrast so what I say here is going to have a bias to my own personal tastes. I'm thinking that maybe you should try a fine grain developer for that Kentmere 400, I do mine in Ilford's ID-11 at 1:3 and it's grainy, but nowhere near what I'm seeing here. I've heard that Pyro 510 is an excellent low grain developer, but I've never used it and I'm not sure what it would be like with an ISO 400 film. With ID-11 I'm getting negatives that will provide an A4 print with acceptable grain. Kentmere 100 is advertised as a "student" film, but it's better than that - it's capable of superb results, but obviously it all depends on how you expose and process it. I notice that many of your K100 shots were underexposed, maybe you're used to using an ISO 100 film with more latitude? Try ORWO's UN54, it's as good as K100. Different of course but just as good, and it's even cheaper than K100 in bulk. Fomapan 200 exposed at ISO 125 is pretty decent too!

    • @Eclectachrome
      @Eclectachrome  ปีที่แล้ว

      hey Lloyd! thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts! Afraid I'm one step ahead on your recommendations though haha since this video, I've started using both 510 pyro and Obsidian Aqua for both Kentmere and Foma films, and also tried Orwo UN54 which is a brilliant film and I'm looking forward to getting a bulk roll of it when it's available! The pyro developers make the low budget films look professional or close and its a great way to go to save costs! It really does depend on the developer and also the scanning process. I do also enjoy Tgrain films and have had good results lately with Fomapan 200! It's fun to play around with different types and different processing to get the kind of results we prefer 😊😊
