- With no time wasted we left home for a 4 day adventure in Guyana's amazon rainforest to a place called Kurupukari seeking out the truth behind the fairytales of Monster Lukanani and giant catfish . Upon arrival with no time to waste we got our gear and headed out on the rivers to peruse some fish. Excitement and determination fueled our objective as we continued to catch Peacock Bass and wait for dark to fish Lau Lau also know as Piraiba

Incredibly fishing vlog - I heard of Lau Lau also known as piraiba. They can tip the scales up 250 pounds. Thank You
That fish is more sweet than gilbaka for me
Yes I have eaten it
Love the video bro, but we actually had it wrong back in the days. When I studied the impacts of fishing on the population I found out that we actually need to put back the large ones and keep the small ones. Let me explain, only a few fish actually make it to adult size, something like 1 in 100000 from eggs. Peacock bass are mouth brooders and fiercely protect the young. The size therefore is extremely important to the species, if the mother is too small, the young will get eaten as the parent cannot fight off predators, and they're a lot more smaller ones than big in the population. Besides everyone knows the big ones are "husky", right?
Cheers
Kurupukari is where I pulled out a 23" lukanani
