At 5:00 we hear you say..."Nice Range rover pulling in" etc. Sounds like the dog in the movie "Up" that says "Squirrel" every time he sees one. You are a true "car guy". Good test. Thanks.

PROS: Very quiet cabin. Hard to tell that the engine is even running most of the time. Even tho its only a 4 cylinder, the engine doesn't seem to strain when getting up to speed on the highway etc.
CONS: Your results were the same as my highest mpg with my 2022 Sorento Hybrid (purchased late April, 2022). It is also rated at 37 combined. I have been disappointed with the MPG so far, expecting the 37 but getting 33.31 (first tank) to as low as 27.45. I do the same driving every week.
On board systems display much higher MPG than what is actually achieved. The dynamic trip display bar shows I am getting the 50 to 75 mpg 90% of the time! Tank Trip said I got 32.7, actual was 29.28, First 2 tanks, after fill-up would say I was getting about 50 mpg and would slowly lower to the mid 30s as the tank emptied. Since then, it starts out in the 20s and slowly climbs to the mid 30s. Mostly in-town with short highway (under 8 mile trips). Haven't had the opportunity to do "real" highway driving (price of gas is too dang high).
Since it gets better in-city I expected at least the 37 mpg. Real world is 10 to 25% less than advertised. A huge step up from my 2004 Honda Pilot (16 to 19 mpg) but disappointing when you are expecting the 37.

I’m very surprised it only got 33mpg? (It’s rated at 35mpg highway) I wish you would have shown what it's own mpg display showed? I can’t believe that your method of fillup is very accurate. Your method counts on the “auto shutoff” of those gas pumps being perfectly repeatable, I doubt that they are capable of that much precision. But I do very much enjoy watching your videos, please keep up the good work!

33 and 35 it pretty darn close for a single short trip. i believe using cruise control consumes more gas as well in my experiment with other vehicle. peace

Nice overview and MPG run! Very solid value at $38k, plenty of space. My only concern is long term oil and carbon deposits for a direct injection-only turbo engine.

I’m surprised the Audi Allroad got better results. I wonder if all the pumps have been calibrated recently.

Since when is "out and back" the same as a loop?

This type of hybrid is designed more for the day-to-day in-town driving rather than highway driving which is why the MPG results seem low. I do appreciate a consistent drive test for comparison but this type of driving test is biased towards gas-only vehicles which have higher highway MPG numbers than in-town numbers.
A better test for a vehicle like this would be to drive it for a week on a normal schedule - to and from work, to and from school, etc. This vehicle is capable of 40+ MPG in stop and go traffic with speeds under 40mph which takes full advantage of the electric motor.
Good review though. I agree that showing the vehicle’s MPG calculation for comparison would be good.

but people drive it like this, which is the point. He also does city driving mpg test.. Us highway commuters want to know real world highway mpg
