I dont know what controller yo have, but i had this issue with my aimcontroller after i took it apart and reassembled it. The remap function gets enables when you hold down the touchpad for 5 seconds, and turns out that kept happening after reassembly. Had to unscrew the back of the controller slightly so the touchpad wouldnt be pressed the whole time. Maybe something similar is happening with your controller where the remap mechanism is constantly activated without you realizing. If you have a different controller then the remap function might be something else than the touchpad...
