That Goofy doll is fabulous! The details! What an amazing story to go with it. It had me laughing out loud on the couch. My kids probably think I’ve lost my mind. They don’t know I lost it long ago.
I grew up in and around San Diego, LA, orange county etc. When we were very little, we were living in Irvine, CA where my parents were attending Uni Cali Irvine and had friends who worked at Disney Land. We went to disney land every single week, sometimes twice a week, because they got free tickets! My favorite rides were the Haunted mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, the tiki room, Robinson Crusoe's tree house, so many good attractions back then. They had an authentic feel. The treehouse was made of wood and had all kinds of antique artifacts. The haunted house was creepy and dark. Pirates was so cool! It's A Small World. I feel very lucky to have experienced the Disney Land i did and to have been able to go so often. I'm not a huge Disney fan, but those are very special memories. I'm 32 now and feel a bit sad that they've changed so many attractions. But I have to remind myself that the magic of Disney is for the moment, so kids can connect with their favorite characters.

Thank you Coco. I’ve been a fan for quite a while. Wanted to share with you that today has been extra special. The kind of day I could share a Panettone with everyone!!! I found out my cancer has NOT come back. I had some weird symptoms but I’m all good!!! Feeling so blessed. Thank you for always being such a happy and fun and entertaining person. When you started this quarantine series I was in turmoil. You made me laugh and helped me do much. Now, it’s all ok. Love you and sincerely appreciate what you do and who you are. Love to your hubby. I’m happy to hear these stories that you’ve been sharing. I had my own version of a Martian Money gift from a homeless guy at 4 am on my way some after hours thing in the basement at Nell’s in the 90’s. He gave me a piece of spaceship found in Antarctica wrapped up in a deep purple scarf. I was tripping and said, “ok, I’ll go with it.” Next day I realized that it was in an empty Lancôme container that once held some serum pods. It was a total spaceship. I kept it for years.
I wonder if we're related my Mother's maiden name is LeHeup similar spelling to yours their from Eustis, FL. My Great Uncle organized a huge local family reunion every year until he passed away several years ago now. My cousin Karen LeHeup was mayor of Eustis in the early 2000's. It would be nice to know I'm not alone in my family tree. Love you Coco!

This brought back a road trip with my family from Vancouver Canada to San Francisco in the hottest part of the summer. Of course no seatbelts but even worse no air conditioning. It must have been a 66 Impala. Would certainly love that car today. Amazing memories also several of my brother and I being almost comatose my Lord that car must have reached 100 degrees. Mom and Dad mixing cocktails in the front seat as they did in those days. Once we got to San Francisco the difficult travel was quickly forgotten and replaced by wonderful new memories. It was quite something in the 60s. So sorry I did go on. Please stay safe and be well.
"That lake was infested with alligators." - Honey, EVERY lake in Florida is infested with alligators. There are little canals and ditches that connect the lakes and rivers and retention ponds, and the alligators just go whither they will.
I love the haunted mansion story. Reminds me of going with my dad to Trail of Terror (which was a legit haunt/scare attraction versus Disney). We got up to the front and I didn’t want to go and he dragged my 11 year ass through it. My eyes were closed for most of it but what I saw I still remember vividly. Hope you’re well Miss Coco, I have tickets to see you again in Minneapolis (third time viewer here) in April and I doubt it will happen but I love seeing you and hearing your stories. You’re my favorite.
It makes me smile to think that our paths may have crossed during adventures in Disney World. My family used to travel from Seattle to Florida every year and the days we looked forward to most were the end of the trip when my parents would take us. charming story! Florida was the same for our family= driving, station wagon, food, luggage, many people in the car- all the way down to Cape Coral/Ft. Myers. Going to the shell factory was our Disney Land. LOL. I used to swim in the canals until I realized gators lived there too.

Honestly, being a performer myself, all the egotistical attempts for attention by so many of us during these stressful times bother me immensely throughout the day! I know, its probably not intentional narcissism by any of them (I prefer to see the good in people) but it does bother me. Roll up your sleeves instead and do what’s necessary like helping your neighbor when they cannot get their own groceries, or stay home in quarantine and just call your isolated elderly instead and then tune in to Coco’s wisdom, it makes the world a better and bearable place during these dark and incomprehensible times. I have a similar Car Terror story from when I was about 7 yrs old. My parents and myself were driving home late one hot July night after dinner at my grandparent's. Dad had all the windows down in our 'new' 1975 Chevy Monte Carlo. I was in the back seat sleeping. Dad flicked a lit Marlboro out the window and as he drove, it blew into the open back seat window and set the car seat upholstery on fire. I woke up to my mother shrieking and the car slamming to a halt, being dragged out in the dark. Of course, my Dad being my Dad, was furious that the seat was destroyed... not that he'd almost burned his only child to death like a Kettle Chip. Good times. Love you Coco!!
Same stories just on the West Coast, driving across the desert from Phoenix to Anaheim where my grandparents lived. Summer after summer of stories in the station wagon with my sister and parents. My love of Disneyland lives on! ❤️

Goofy is my favorite Disney character. Before VHS or Beta max, my family had a vinyl disc movie player (they were like records in a sleeve that played movies), and I had one with a bunch of Goofy cartoons. The Goofy sports cartoons still crack me up.

OMG, this reminds me of when I was 13 and we took a family trip to Toronto/Niagara Falls. During a long day of shopping, I bought a bunch of HUGE Duran Duran posters and pins from a street vendor with money I saved up from babysitting and chores. Well the first night in the hotel, the fire alarm went off and I panicked, saying that if I had to, I'd jump off our balcony (about 8 floors up), into the pool below...but I'd have to bring my posters with me, LOL! Luckily, it was just a false alarm. But holy shit, I was so scared for my John Taylor/Duran Duran posters, lol! 😌

I remember riding Pirates of the Caribbean the first as a young child and the boat went down like a roller coaster two times. I was so surprised and delighted. I’ve never forgotten that moment. Ahhhhh memories.

omg, i used to have a Jiminy Cricket that looked a lot like your Goofy! he had wire arms under his little jacket, and eventually one of his hands fell off because he was posed excessively. that was quite sad. :-(
Hola Coco! I am LOVING these moments of distraction... it’s like you’re in the USO, entertaining us while the war wages on! I only went to Disneyworld twice, both times in the 70s when I was a small boy. The first time I went, my grandparents took my brother and I, and it was a road trip to get there and back just like you described. My two most vivid memories of that trip there and back were coming across a roadside stand near a vast orange grove that sold ORANGE flavored soft serve ice cream, which I’ve never seen in New England, where I’ve lived nearly my whole life; and the second memory is of coming across a small, deserted ocean beach on the way back... my grandparents pulled off the road and let my brother and I go swimming for a little while. Our bathing suits were packed away, so we skinny dipped. We were 6 and 8, so we didn’t care about that. My mother is of Spanish decent and tans very easily, and I take after her while my grandparents and brother were always VERY white, and for the rest of the trip home and all that summer they nicknamed me “Paleface” because of my VERY pronounced tan line :) Oh, and the second trip to Disney, with my parents, we flew down, and to get me on the plane, they told me we’d be meeting my grandmother down there, which of course we weren’t, and I threw the biggest tantrum in the airport that they never lied to me about that to get me to go somewhere ever again... they were so embarrassed! If you read this, I wonder if you’ll remember the vending machines they had all throughout the park back then that would make wax figurines right in front of you to take home as souvenirs? I became infatuated with the one of Flipper and bought about five of them from different machines in different colors of wax. Sadly, we stored them in the trunk of my grandparents’ big brown LTD for the trip home, and at some point (probably before we crossed the Mason-Dixon Line) they all melted together, and I arrived home to find I was now the unhappy owner of a huge Flipper ball of wax! Glad to hear you wisely chose a memento that could stand the test of time! I’d have been happy if mine had just lasted beyond the return trip home! LOL!

Goofy is my favorite Disney character. Before VHS or Beta max, my family had a vinyl disc movie player (they were like records in a sleeve that played movies), and I had one with a bunch of Goofy cartoons. The Goofy sports cartoons still crack me up.
Living here in Orlando.. our memories are almost the same.

another great video....I can relate so much to that era....was a kid in the 60's and 70's too... in a family with 8 kids and a blue Used station wagon / no seat belts...sitting on laps...and I have an Aunt Betty too....hangin' on by a thread at 83......so many stories...so many..... especially Summer time

OMG, this reminds me of when I was 13 and we took a family trip to Toronto/Niagara Falls. During a long day of shopping, I bought a bunch of HUGE Duran Duran posters and pins from a street vendor with money I saved up from babysitting and chores. Well the first night in the hotel, the fire alarm went off and I panicked, saying that if I had to, I'd jump off our balcony (about 8 floors up), into the pool below...but I'd have to bring my posters with me, LOL!
Luckily, it was just a false alarm. But holy shit, I was so scared for my John Taylor/Duran Duran posters, lol! 😌
When is the next Storytime with Coco? We all need tucking into bed at nights, Peru-style to make it through this. 🙏🏼 🛏

Oh goodness, I grew up in Florida and it was unfathomable to hang out by fresh water fearlessly, you had to constantly scan the surface for the ridged backs of the alligators.

I remember riding Pirates of the Caribbean the first as a young child and the boat went down like a roller coaster two times. I was so surprised and delighted. I’ve never forgotten that moment. Ahhhhh memories.

omg, i used to have a Jiminy Cricket that looked a lot like your Goofy! he had wire arms under his little jacket, and eventually one of his hands fell off because he was posed excessively. that was quite sad. :-(

Hola Coco! I am LOVING these moments of distraction... it’s like you’re in the USO, entertaining us while the war wages on!
I only went to Disneyworld twice, both times in the 70s when I was a small boy. The first time I went, my grandparents took my brother and I, and it was a road trip to get there and back just like you described. My two most vivid memories of that trip there and back were coming across a roadside stand near a vast orange grove that sold ORANGE flavored soft serve ice cream, which I’ve never seen in New England, where I’ve lived nearly my whole life; and the second memory is of coming across a small, deserted ocean beach on the way back... my grandparents pulled off the road and let my brother and I go swimming for a little while. Our bathing suits were packed away, so we skinny dipped. We were 6 and 8, so we didn’t care about that. My mother is of Spanish decent and tans very easily, and I take after her while my grandparents and brother were always VERY white, and for the rest of the trip home and all that summer they nicknamed me “Paleface” because of my VERY pronounced tan line :)
Oh, and the second trip to Disney, with my parents, we flew down, and to get me on the plane, they told me we’d be meeting my grandmother down there, which of course we weren’t, and I threw the biggest tantrum in the airport that they never lied to me about that to get me to go somewhere ever again... they were so embarrassed!
If you read this, I wonder if you’ll remember the vending machines they had all throughout the park back then that would make wax figurines right in front of you to take home as souvenirs? I became infatuated with the one of Flipper and bought about five of them from different machines in different colors of wax. Sadly, we stored them in the trunk of my grandparents’ big brown LTD for the trip home, and at some point (probably before we crossed the Mason-Dixon Line) they all melted together, and I arrived home to find I was now the unhappy owner of a huge Flipper ball of wax! Glad to hear you wisely chose a memento that could stand the test of time! I’d have been happy if mine had just lasted beyond the return trip home! LOL!
