I hope you enjoyed the views from the land, air & water. I still think this was drained intentionally for repair work. Thanks for checking out this spur of the moment revisit.
the concrete rings around the pipe are actually weights to keep it where they laid the pipe. in times of high fast moving water they don't want it moving and causing a break.
JP when repairs needed we would open the blow off valve to get the required level we would need. I know thats what I did. I got reservoir levels every thursday so they could be reported to the government agency.
I have to say the drone footage was my favorite, with that dramatic music made it feel like watching a movie at the theatre. 2nd was a tie between the underwater footage and the refreshing sound of water pouring out of that pipe along the wooded bank. Could almost feel the coolness of it. Awesome video!! Really well done!💙👍
That is an amazing place JP, I love the underwater footage. It's always fascinating to me, to see dry river beds. You get to see what's normally underwater and do some digging.
The music you picked for the drone footage was spectacular as was the view. I wonder how old those buildings are. They all look ancient. I wish I had places to explore like that. The area is so beautiful. I would have to drive probably for hours to find a place. Your photos are great.
Loved the whole video, JP! I especially enjoyed the drone footage and also hearing the sound of the Kill deer birds when you were walking the lakebed. I wanted a cup of that water coming from the pipe! Thank you for taking us along; always appreciated! …..🌝
Hey Jay, I liked the drone footage, the water coming out of the pipe and the underwater footage the best💙💙 Hard to choose between those three!!! The drone footage and the photo montage were awesome as always 💙💙 Thank you Jay for taking me along on this nature adventure!!! I can't that now like I used to when I was in my teens!!! Much love and hugs from South Carolina ❤️ xx May God always bless you, keep you healthy and safe ❤️🙏❤️
This unexpected explore is a gem! I love reservoirs and water related places. I loved the areal footage and the underwater footage. So exciting to see everything from far above and then dive in under the surface of the water and explore what nature treasures lie beneath. I also very much enjoyed the part of the explore with the man made waterfall/ pipe coming out of the woods. This is a beautiful place. The entire area has so many beautiful sites. -Thank you for taking us with you, JP! Looking forward to the reservoir explore of the one you mentioned in the end. 💫
Really cool drone footage J! It reminds me of the dam in Mississippi when I went to college All the goo was cool. The footage at the beginning was neat but nothing like a drone in the air.
Boring...absolutely not. Anyone that would say that needs to go back to playing their video games. Once again, you've found a really cool explore. And yes, did you smell cucumbers ? Looks like a great hang out for copperheads to me ! Thank you once again for inviting us to come along.
Amazing exploration and fun bike ride! I know I have said this before, but that is incredible landscape, you are completely surrounded by beauty and by no means at all boring! It seems to me that you are right in thinking this was done for remediation. Love all the old structures and the construction of the steps and even got to see some nature's corn dogs lol! Fantastic drone and underwater footage, I was looking for some fish, it was really clear and yes you covered land, air, and water and I loved it all! I wanted to be here for the live premiere so badly, but I enjoyed the replay. Photos are gorgeous as always! Great video JP, thank you! 💙
Thank God I get to experience going outdoors with you when stuck inside with our nasty weather in UK. So many places you visit remind me of my local area. ❤
Loved this video...💙👍 great intro .....also, the drone montage was awesome with a perfect choice in music...Such a beautiful area with the wonderful old structures .This may be a "dumb" question but.. " How do they refill the reservoir ? "..Natural spring water ?
There's already a source of water feeding into it, mostly likely mountain streams or a mixture of sources. All they need to do is shut the valve that is draining and it will fill up naturally.
Blue Bottom was awesome and at one time, a pretty popular spot for swimming. Hopefully, that is not what is going on here as your videos from here are always so beautiful.
You would have lost your mind lol The kid in me is sad but the adult in me can see how it could be dangerous. I will be curious to see what it looks like in a more natural state.
I agree, i think it was drained for some repair work, they drain a local lake and dam near me every so many years to inspect and if necessary, do repair work. interesting video
This kind of place is right up my alley! I thoroughly enjoyed this one, JP! I wonder what those concrete things covering the pipe are for? (Post10 needs to chime in! lol) and what that pipe/"waterfall" was for? All in all, an awesome video! Can't wait to see more :) PS: your drone shots were incredible too! inspires me to learn how to fly mine better
Guess we both like the same alleys lol. A few people chimed in about the pipe saying it could be natural gas to protect it and someone else said it's weights to keep the pipe in location. Whatever it is, it's my first time seeing it. Glad you enjoyed the flight. Best way to get better is to get in the air and experiment with different shots.
@@JPVideos81 definitely like the same alleys! Lol Ahh that makes so much sense: weights to keep the pipe down! And yeah, I agree with the drone, I definitely need to put it up in the air way more.
Jay, That was really enjoyable, by the way, do you know the name of that reservoir, I'd like to research it and the buildings? A lot of work went into the construction and, as you said, it's still somewhat active. Cheers, Rik Spector
Awesome unexpected explore video JP! That is such a beautiful place and the drone footage is spectacular! My guess on the concrete around the old pipe is to keep it from moving around underwater and breaking. I sure hope they leave that area like it is, they've been removing old dams and locks in my area and returning the rivers to their natural state but I don't like it they have been there for over 100 years and it's just a boring river without them. It even caused a popular ferry ride to shut down because the water isn't deep enough anymore. I wish they would just let the cool old stuff from the 1800's be.
I haven't been to Blue Marsh in quite some time but, my Dad and I used to go there fishing and in the winter they purposely lowered it to dredge according to my Dad. That made it really easy for us to gather all types of free fishing tackle.
It looks so different there without the normal water. I remember the video you made 3 years ago. It doesn't seam like it's been that long ago. I wonder if where the water is gushing in, there was maybe a collapse on that wall? They had to drain it to fix it. I am just guessing... that is about all I can think of...great video. At times during the aerial footage around those old buildings it looked like you were around an old castle. Lol. I wonder how long it will take to fill. ✌
Careful my friend the water company is issuing trespass fines anywhere they have signage …on that day the watco employee told me that specific res was being drained and is off limits . He also told me one more which was being drained in our area
I'm just guessing, but I believe those are concrete collars at the pipe joints. It was possibly done that way, either that is not welded joints or the are there to keep the pipe from being dislodged.
FYI the bird I hear in the background of your clip is a killdeer bird it has a nest where you were walking they make nests on the ground, and it was very mad you we’re really close to it’s nest at a few points .
I could be wrong, but I believe the pipe with water draining out is how they drain the lake. It's a way for water to continue flowing once it gets below the spillway. There's most likely an opening or intake somewhere beneath the surface closer to where that foundation is in the water.

I remember this area brother. The reason I can think of why there is concrete on the pipe is to hold it down and in place.

@@JPVideos81 yes sir.

Omg i want to fish that so bad but I already got a $212 as nesbit res on 502 this year grrrrrrr
Those ones on 502 are heavily watched. I know people who got fined for just walking around there.
What happened to the area is why is it drying up
Where was the water from the pipe in the wall?
It was coming from the water in the reservoir part

A stab in the dark but that pipe fitting you showed said "China" on it so that was post 1970's that was installed there.
How come you never shoot any videos outside the USA?
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Natural gas pipe lines add concrete to the complete pipe under water crossings so they do not float up.
At 4:34, I only see it on the 1940 Penn Pilot.
I was a waterman for 29 yrs
I don't think they are protecters as much as weights to keep the pipe from floating up when submerged.
Maybe dual purpose? Or like you said, possibly weights.
