JIMNY AND THE DRAGON

- Took the Jimny on a 1000 km journey through the toughest trail in the Icelandic highlands. Day one the group stayed at the hut in "Nýidalur" at "Sprengisandur" (route F26) Day 2 we traveled to Dragon Canyon. On the way there we drive through "Gæsavatnaleið" (F910) which is one of the toughest trails in Iceland because of sharp lava fields and also driving trough the flood plains is always risky because you never can tell if they are completely flooded with raging Glacier water, or just completely dry. Luckily for us they where dry, but some friends of mine drove trough the same area a month earlier and sent me a footage showing the raging water (minute 3:20). Dragon Canyon is one of the most spectacular places to visit because there are so many rock formations that resembles Dragons and Trolls. Day 3 we drive to Husavik and on the way we drove through "Herðubreiðarlindur" (F910) which is considered to be one of the most beautiful places in Icelandic nature. It´s kind of feeling like driving in a painting or a postcard. The mountain "Herðubreið" (Wide Shoulder) was recently chosen by the Icelandic people as the most majestic mountain in Iceland. We had to do some river crossing through deep water and the Jimny did well. The Sea Baths in Husavik is also a place worth while visiting. Warm sea water is healthy for the skin and the scene from the pools is spectacular. Day 4 we drove back home through the mountain road "Kjölur" (route F35) and as always the Jimny stood the test and did a fantastic job. I’ve owned the manual Jimny in 🇬🇧 for a year - really wanted the auto but had to take what I was offered due to short supply. There’s a 2 seater commercial Jimny being launched in 🇬🇧 in a few months and I’m seriously considering buying the auto - virtually identical spec but slightly larger cargo bay. I’d appreciate your thoughts on your experience of the auto - any negatives?
@@macrolex9485 no negatives so far but finding the right gear ratios for such a heavily modified Jimny like mine, the automatic has less options 😄
@@thenewjimnychannel361 Your upgrade costs video was interesting 🤑 - but well worth it for fantastic memories on your epic trips! I didn’t even put mudflaps on mine 😂
Thanks for the info on auto 👍
Great video.
Awesome footage, scenery indeed, you're on 35's, I'm on humble 29's & change with BFGKM3 215/75r15; however in 1m deep river crossing in the ancient & seismic land of Greece the JB74W had no issues whatsoever with high oem breathers' on most.. once lockers are fitted will reposition all the breathers, which are only vulnerable with temp differential fluctuations
Thanks for the positive comment 👍 I had to have breathers custom built for the diffs and the transfer case👌
In 2010 Eyafjallajökul almost made me miss my marriage in Guatemala. Our plane was the only one leaving ARN in Stockholm that day, April 20. Marriage ceremony was on the 24th.
Check the Bosch Aerotwin retro AR400 windshild wipers. Looks and are much better the stock ones 😉
Thanks for the tip👍
Once again, great vid.you guys are so lucky to have wonderful landscapes..We have it too , here in wales and a dragon or two! Cheers
Hello friend! I am from Brazil!! I realized you guys have to pass through places with water. Install a "snorkel" for your safety and the car's safety!!
