A break is so crucial. Especially with how daunting and exhausting social can be. Best thing I ever did was make a Marie Kondo esque rule to really check in with myself to see why I logged on in the first place. I come back to that rule every time I find myself on social. The second I check in and go "Huh. This is no longer bringing me joy," I log off. I'm pretty sure it put years back on my life lol.
Same!! Learning how to recognize your true intentions behind social media use and being mindful of our habits is super important. Cheers to Konmari-ing social! 👏🏽

This video was shot so beautifully, and I looooove the shots of Oreo! I first starting taking a temporary social media break and I just felt so at peace with being in the present, that it's been 6+ months now lol. Since doing so, I feel like my spirit is so much more grounded and connected to my surroundings, as opposed to my phone. I love that you started off with your break on vacay, especially in nature, that's the best! Jen, just also wanted to say that you have been very missed in the community here, but I'm so happy that you and Leo are taking a well-deserved break!

I have this urge deep down inside me to delete all my social media account and just be a weird person that doesn’t have any but I honestly think it’s impossible to do so bc EVERYTHING revolves around it especially when it’s your job. I’m a photographer and that how I meet clients. But something that has help is I’ve turn all my notifications off for all my social media apps to help fight the urge to check it constantly bc we all know when your get a notification you have to check it IMMEDIATELY or the world will end. Also I keep all the apps in a folder so I’m not like I’m bored click scroll for 9 hour!

Yes! I’ve turned off all notifications and it helps tremendously. Leaving the phone in other rooms for most of the day and sticking to a no-screen curfew (like not using any devices before 9am or after 9pm) can help, too.
