      It's a shame we're ruled by an elite that is hostile to our nation. Only 58% of live births in England and Wales in 2020 were classed as "white British", so the plan is for us to be a minority in our country by the mid-2050s.

    The largest music festival in the world, two months continuous of The Proms. Mostly classical, but also jazz, music from musicals etc. Performers and conductors from all over the world. The UK is a small country but packs a big punch in many fields. The song was written to celebrate the Royal Navy for ending the Barbary slave trade. That trade involved North Africans kidnapping and enslaving Europeans (including many Brits) who were sold at slave markets in North Africa, many to owners across the Ottoman Empire.

      The Royal Navy West Africa Squadron seized approximately 1,600 ships involved in the slave trade and freed 150,000 slaves who were aboard these vessels between 1807 and 1860.

      @archiebald4717 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidsweeney4021 According to Professor Sowell, more Europeans were captured and enslaved in the Barbary slave trade, than all the African slaves who were transported to North America. I am sure you already know, that those slaves were also enslaved by other Africans, then sold to European slave traders. The notion that they were captured and enslaved by Europeans is completely wrong. The Africans had been enslaving other Africans for thousands of years, selling some of them to Arabs for at least two thousand years.

    I am in awe of the British anthems. Rule Britannia is an awesome piece of music. The opera singer doing that particular is famous over there in the UK. Every summer at the Royal Albert Hall, they have a series of shows and performances over the summer and they are called the "Proms". On the last night of the Proms for the summer, they pull out all of stops and that performance that you watched was the last night of the Proms for that particular summer. The Hall was packed with thousands of people as was Hyde Park which is right across the road from the hall. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it. Don Hooper Ocala, Florida.

    It's such a favourite event of the year. People come from around the world, including the states, to sing our songs and wave their countries flag on the last night of the proms. It's like a party. I like to watch on TV and see just how may flags I recognise. In addition to the big screens put up around the UK for people to watch in the open air, the summer season of concerts are also broadcast on TV and radio, nationally, by the BBC.

    The Proms, Promenade Concerts, are a series of concerts held at The Royal Albert Hall in London each summer. The last night is usually held in September and is a lighthearted evening ending in a sort of sing a long. As you heard, the audience is non too reverent on this evening. It is so hard to get tickets that they put up big screens in Hyde Park and across the country. Can you please find Land of Hope and Glory, also from the last night, as that is my favourite.

    It's considered something of an honour to be asked to sing 'Rule, Britannia' at the Last Night, with classical singers always doing their utmost to dress for the occasion, and to spring a patriotic surprise during the song! Dame Sarah Connolly (appropriately for her role as Lord Nelson here) is known, amongst other things, for playing so-called 'travesty' or 'trouser-roles' in opera, in which a mezzo plays a man.

    Another “gig” held in the same location that you have to watch is the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance, which is a parade of colours (flags), from all of the units around the country that help former members of our military, in much the same way as your VA, only not organised by any governmental authority. In addition to the flag-bearers several currently serving military personnel attend. A notable part of the service is towards the end of the service, when there is a shower of paper poppy flowers each one representing a fallen military person, which fall from the ceiling in complete silence. There are also other songs from the Last Night of the Prom’s which you will probably enjoy watching/listening to.

      Apparently it's acoustics we're awful when it was first built. It had a two and a half minute echo. They eventually installed the hanging sound discs from the roof to dampen it. It is beautiful tho, and deceptively sized. The highest floors are nose bleed inducing. And there are so many unknown little things tucked away like Elton John's red piano. The tour is something I would advise anyone interested in music or architecture to take

    The Proms (promenade concerts) happen every year. They’re great. The resident orchestra is the BBC Symphony Orchestra but there are invited orchestras and bands from across the world. The concerts go on for weeks at the Royal Albert Hall. Some of the best popular concerts are the show tunes where the orchestra play songs by Gershwin, etc. Seth MacFarlane has sung at a few of these concerts and he was great. The last night of the proms features traditional British songs, sea shanties, etc and people watch on screens from parks all over the UK to participate. The Proms were cancelled recently after HMQ’s death.

    The Henry Woods Promenade Concerts (the Proms) is a yearly series of concerts, sponsored by the BBC. Mostly the concerts consist of classical music, but on the Last Night of the Proms, they let their hair down a bit, and patriotic songs like Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory get sung, with tongue slightly in cheek.

This is the culmination of the annual Proms and is the most patriotic, flag-waving part of the Proms. The Last night of the proms, usually has well known patriotic songs. It was cancelled this year due to death of Queen. BBC tried to cancel Rule Britania, being woke, but such an outcry they didn't. The cancellation even being discussed in House of Commons. Jacob Rees Mogg MP, (often described as member for 18th century), played music on his I phone. Land of hope and Glory is worth listening to. You will recognise it, but not the words.

      To be fair, it wasn't the BBC, but the then government putting pressure on the organisers. The BBC didn't really have much choice or say in the matter. They were damned if they did, damned if they didn't. For all the government bitching about the BBC having a lefty agenda, the Conservatives have now been in power since 2010. Not to mention the current boss was appointed Boris Johnson, while doing personal favours for the then PM. And he's still in the job, yet hasn't been suspended. Then at the same time, you get Gary Lineker, who WAS suspended, for giving his personal opinion about government policy on Twitter, thus breeches BBC impartiality
      guidelines. No matter what you think of him (personally, I think he's overrated, overpaid & he should put his money where his mouth is when moans about how badly the working classes are treated. Much like Jamie Oliver), the whole affair stinks of double standards. They should both have been suspended, or not at all.

It wasn't performed this year as it would have been only 2 days after Her Majesty's death.

To qualify to attend the last night you have to have been to at least 5 other promenade concerts during the same season.
