I bought my NC (3rd Gen) in 2013 as a pre Reg. Instantly impressed on my test drive and after 6 years of ownership decided to sell it to friends. They still own it and love touring Europe every summer. I've asked for it back and they refused. Now own a 20 year old 986 Boxster (IMS sorted) and for me they are on a par for weekend enjoyment. Love the colour you bought. 👍

Nothing wrong with having some fun in middle age. You missed out the Eunos named examples from the Japanese home market. There are loads of them have been imported. That is a very good one you’ve found there. Well worth the money for smiles per mile.
That looks a really nice one and the smile on your face says it all. I own both an NB and an NA Eunos and love them both.
I have had a mid-life crisis twice now by buying 2 NCs - loved them both.
Just make sure and fully rust protect it.

Years ago purchased a Mk2.5 for my then wife, huge fun to drive and practical too, enjoy but keep an eye on the rust😊
Thank you Nobby for making me feel justified again. I recently bought a 2005 Mercedes SLK. 1.8 petrol with less than 80,000 kms on the clock. It's just something to play with and enjoy on a nice day. Because it's a second car for me I was horrified at the insurance companies efforts to charge ridiculous amounts of money to insure it. Hopefully next year I can get classic car insurance at a reasonable price. Enjoy the Mazda MX5. Always loved them.
Good Man Nobby. I bought a NC 2011 Kendo last year for the same reasons and love it. Got it in NI and total import cost was a little less than €1,000 on top of the purchase price. Great little car and bags of fun.
Had an Eunos Roadster (NA with popup headlights) many years ago. One day I’ll own one again. The best fun on 4 wheels you could have😊

MX5 was our daily pre-kids - 1997 model. Brilliant! Hard top for summer (in Australia!), soft top rest of the year. Put in a proper rollbar (black!) which was a great upgrade - tightened up the chassis, safer, and just fitted under hard top as well. Even now, a tight curvy road is a chance to say “this would be great in the MX5”. Have also owned a ‘89 CRX, Mark V GTI, current gen civic hybrid, family bus…..
In retirement a classic will join the garage - could it be the 2024 model (in 10 years)??? Looking forward to it!!
Congrats! Great car for "spirited driving", and without getting yourself into trouble too. Damn near bulletproof mechanically. Good idea on the rust proofing. I use the bilt hamber goo myself(easier to apply for the home gamer) and it definitely saved my car. I've heard good things of the lanolin stuff.

That's a VGC MX5 and unusual to find a rust-free example. Be sure to cavity wax it as well as the underbody protection that you have already done. You can improve the handling even more by fitting quality coilovers and lowering it slightly, plus upgrading the anti-roll bars too. But maybe with such a rare unmolested car it's worth keeping it standard. I'd lose the 'syle bar' ( fake roll bar ) but that's a personal choice. This vid has made me reconsider getting rid of my NB MX5 to buy a Boxster - what will I do??

Nice colour and to be fair it looks tidy I bought a metallic red one with leather red & black seats it was nice but I just didn't use it routinely to get the fun often enough.
It did start to show rust so keep a wary eye out or get busy with waxoyl.

Sills might look good Nobby but someone's been at them and finished up by lashing the stone chip on them!
Wasn’t sure if that finish was on them from factory, you see it on some cars lower down. Chassis rails etc also decent so will see how it goes!
I seen when you first post this....loved it then, love it now. Imagine an EV version. 20 years old....classic Insurance then?
I don’t have a classic policy on it as it was only €350 for a normal one but probably next year depending on renewal !
I'll take the Miata over an S2000 or a Booster.

Defo needs a turbo on it and mod it a bit, get it ppf sealed for protection andlove the colour, there such a great car and better than a boxer and cheaper to run and maintain I I was you and could afford to I would defo keep it 👍
you did get there first 👩🦲🤣and good point about SUVs , I remember almost driving over a s2000 you just cannot see them if they are next to you or approaching from the wrong angle
Maybe a advanced driver course would help, or spend 6 months riding a motor cycle either would give another perspective in a constructive way.
