      Or the next time you see a disabled person struggling. Like someone with Autism.
      He is still somewhat at fault of course, but there were a lot of people who saw this behavior? And probably could have done something.
      It's a classic lesson on being aware of people around you, having empathy and noticing the warning signs so you could possibly warn the police and stop a tragedy.

    I found the chats take on Randy identifying with Ember really disheartening. The need to resonate and identify with Ember was most likely gender affirming to Randy and was the best way they saw fit to feel/look how they wanted to and escape from their own gender dysphoria when contemplating their own body. Proper therapy may have allowed Randy to step away from the Ember persona and embrace their own transition. It feels like if they grew up 10 years later they would have had more resources or people available with some sense to get Randy the help they needed. This is just a tragedy where a kid didn't get the therapy they needed and instead were handed guns. Terrible.

      @@ravenecho2410 I know that, technically, this is absolutely what someone should do, but I just want you to know that the system in place to deal with this stuff is absolutely fucked up.
      My cousin was ruthlessly bullied during high school, mainly because he could be an emotional kid. It was easy to make him upset. One day, they basically goaded him into sarcastically admitting that he wanted to blow up the school. Either one of the boys, or some concerned person who overheard without any context, went to the school and told them what happened.
      He was informed that, right off the bat, he was going to be ARRESTED. He was going to be sent to juvie and was facing a felony trial for being goaded into saying something by kids that used to terrorize him at school. Thankfully, they got in contact with a lawyer who helped him avoid being detained and the truth came out fairly quickly when all was said and done. He had to go to court-appointed therapy that focused on his non-existent desire to hurt people, rather than, y'know, the vicious bullying.
      And the bullies? They got NOTHING. Nothing at all, except some "shame on you-ing" from the judge who sorta gleaned the situation, but couldn't be proven due to being hearsay. Which is ironic, considering my cousin had to be taken to actual court over something a few people heard him say.
      It was an absolute nightmare for him, and I would have wished for nothing more than whoever overheard their conversation, if it was just a concerned bystander, would have talked to him and reached out a hand as you did instead of telling the school.
      It's a tricky situation, because it's hard to know whether or not someone could be dangerous or if talking to them is enough, but I just wanted to point out another system that treats people who could be crying for help as criminals, and I'm sure that the compassion you treated his confession with was at least a small help to changing his worldview.

    As a transgender woman I am saddened that Randy never got the mental support they needed at a young age. This is proof that therapy is essential for youth in America. They could have been able to talk about their gender dysphoria, get the medication and support they needed in order to be more comfortable in their skin, and maybe death wouldn't have been on their mind so much. This doesn't change the fact they killed people, but I'm angry that nobody asked them if they were okay.
    I'm angry at the commenters in this video who uses "he" in response to Randy instead of "she" or "they." I'm using they just because it's the safest pronoun to use if you don't know which to say. They might be a monster, but we still have our own principles to follow. I hope that we can further advocate for better health care and mental health practices so less people have to suffer and die from mental illness.

      Shooting just the tank isn’t going to do anything? Like the liquid on its own isn’t going to explode?

    • @cats1970
      @cats1970 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Additionally, in the tank it’s liquid propane due to the pressure. Just bullet heat isn’t enough, because it doesn’t have enough oxygen around to combust initially. Like lighting a match inside a tub of oil.
      Best bet with shots only is to shoot for a leak, wait for enough propane to vaporize, then shoot a (metal) surface most likely to spark on impact inside the propane cloud. But you’re way more able to cause a boom if you wreck the tank, let it flow and then use traditional flames (carry a lighter).

      I mean I craved attention too before I came out as trans. Lots of people with gender dysphoria crave it when they're cis presenting because we need some kind of validation to make the pain go away. I bet if they had more trans-positive support around them, this never would have happened.

    okay, I’m gonna say one thing about them that probably a lot of people won’t like:
    although they may have been dealing with many mental health issues and gender dysphoria and all that, but they documented EVERYTHING. They knew exactly what they wanted to do and they had a plan.
    That isn’t someone who we should feel sorry for.
    We shouldn’t feel sorry for them because they had mental health struggles when they killed three people in cold blood for their own prophecy they wanted to fulfill. If they seriously wanted to follow through and become a ghost girl, this sounds harsh but they could’ve simply just k*led themselves, but no. They took it as an opportunity to make a statement essentially and take the lives of three innocent people, and then they k*led themselves. They took the lives of three people that did not deserve the ending that they recieved, all for his big plan.
    While many people do struggle with mental health and gender dysphoria, I don’t feel sorry for the people that take the fucking lives of others in the process.
    Stop. Feeling. Sorry. For. Mass. Murderers.
    And to everyone saying it’s tragic: it is tragic for the VICTIMS. it’s tragic they didn’t get the help they needed, but Randy knew EXACTLY what they were doing. The moment someone takes another person’s life is the moment you stop feeling sorry for them, because they’re brought that on themselves. They didn’t have to kill those people, they didn’t have to make a spectacle of it, but they did.

    What the documentary said about them(im using they/them since they are not around to tell us their pronouns) almost seeming disappointed their parents didn't pick up on the red flags makes me wonder if some part of them didn't want to do this and wanted to be talked out of it. There was a youtuber I used to watch who was trans and she had severe gender dysphoria and depression as a kid. She mentioned in a podcast how she was having suicidal thoughts (should probably note she didn't have thoughts of killing others just herself) and she would self harm in a way that left marks because a part of her wanted her parents to notice something was wrong. But another part of her didn't so she would cover up her injuries by wearing shirts. She kinda wanted her parents to know but also kinda didn't so she just subtly hinted that something was wrong.

      Fr it's kinda mad. Even if I just wore that natural selection shirt, my mom would be like "oh I've not seen you wearing that before, where did you get it? What's that about?". Maybe it's because she was a single parent and she only had daughters so it was easier for us to relate to reach other on the surface at least, but idk it's crazy how little people communicate with their kids. I do know folks who grew up with similarly absent relationships with their parents though, it's quite sad.

  • @iseetheendisnear2416
    @iseetheendisnear2416 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    Watching a human catastrophe like this reminds me of myself and my own lows in life. Who knows what I would’ve been capable of if my brain developed differently. Maybe it’s this person literally _begging_ to be stopped or maybe it’s the fact their situation seemed salvageable, but people SHOULD feel at least a little sympathetic. More sympathetic to the victims, of course. It would be outright disrespectful to twist the cause of a tragedy into something positive.
    But here’s the deal: people have this idea that killers are fully in control of themselves and that killing is an intrinsic part of their character, their very soul. In reality, killers _lack_ something to a detriment - the thought processes by which all we know (instinctively and/or logically) that killing others is a bad idea. Maybe they viewed people as objects all their lives due to unfortunate brain chemistry. Maybe their soul is a desert where they’re completely alone, without empathy despite an empathetic society staring them in the face. Or maybe they decided in the moment that killing was somehow worth it. Who knows how people reach stupid conclusions?
    And here’s why this reality disturbs us. We _want_ an “evil,” twisted, inhuman character to fight against. It’s the problem being complex which scares us, because solving it would be more daunting than simply executing/shitting on an unsalvageable, undesirable human trash bag. People don’t want to realize that holding 1 person accountable for murder being a process that occurs naturally within our society is completely unreasonable. Because it would mean your life isn’t entirely in your control. Because it would mean that _you’re_ partially responsible for countless sins you did not commit and that you must carry their weight on your shoulders. Anyone can become a trash bag. There’s potential for you to be a walking disaster within you. And that’s ok. We’ll figure it out with enough time on this earth
