- Acceleration test of this 1978 Chrysler Lebaron with 360 engine and A904 transmission. 2.45 rear axle 8 1/4 diff. No catalytic converter car because sold new in Norway. Lean burn is disconnected.
Ah, nothing like the power of a 170 horsepower V8 lol
Haha if it even makes that much lol
Oh dude, ya wanna hear something, my 1990 Jeep Grand Wagoneer has a 360cid V8 and it's only rated at 144hp,,, and got only 11mpg, when it was BRAND NEW.....
@@ericwilson2585 oh I know! My grandpa had an ‘83 Grand Wagoneer with the 360. They had the torque, but weren’t fast, and drank more than a dying alcoholic
@@ericwilson2585it was 185 hp and it was thanks to pollution control.
My dad disabled his on his 79 Cherokee Chief 360 same engine just the two door stripped down model.
EPA pests clipped the wings of many iconic American muscle cars. Children with draconian powers.
At first I thought ," man, that thing is fast!:. Then I realized I was looking at the Km/h :-)
Just think, this was one of the faster cars available new in 1978 😂
Nice ride
These were often used as police cars but the police package had better exhaust and cooling so was 2 or 3 seconds faster and had a top speed well over 120mph (200kph).
FALSE: i have ALL the police documentation of police vehicle testing from 1960-70-80-90's and this car ran a 0-60 in 13 seconds and with the big lightbar could barely reach 105 MPH!! and yes with the 360 motor.. fact is these were slower with the police gear added weight than civilan cars.. Just like the 5L mustang and camaro police cars were in fact slower than Civilan 5L mustang and camaros with the added police weight/gear on/in them@@Novusod
no volare ran a 17 second with the 360 to a 16 sec corvette@@ericruud9328
The Cadillac horn is a nice touch. Awesome car!
You noticed it, thats nice😁
That 1st gear is so tall. Lol
It hung in there till almost 50mph! Life with a 3 speed.
Just found your vids. Great acceleration run lol. That 2.45 rear end would be great for the highway!
80s tech. Kind of the dark ages of the American automobile.
It was the times when a 360 cui or 5.9liter engine made 170hp and only got 14 mpg on a good day!
Love the sound
Thanks for watching! I have several videos of this car on my channel!
20 seconds, not bad.
Love it!
Thanks!
Lean burn
Yeah, but no more😂
I used to have a 1979 Lebaron 2-door coupe that had a 318 lean-burn, but I fixed that problem with a 1969 HP383, 727, and a cop car rearend, leafsprings, and rear swaybar. It use ta run pretty good.
@@Dinkymaster7 ..Did you swap the carb? Lean burn carbs rob power...If its a 2bbl get one from a 74 Charger, then you will get a jump in power..plus time the car better 360's can really wake up and move with a few tricks, even with the highway gearing!
Why do you have your headlights on in broad daylight ?
It's a beautiful car quit talkin shit!!!!!
Are all American cars banned from having a tachometer?
Haha you would think so! I have a aftermarket tach in this car, just so that I can keep an eye on the revs. On most european and japanese cars from this era, a tach was an option. In this Chrysler however, you couldn't get it at all
It was uncommon for American cars with an automatic transmission to have a tach. The first automatic with a tach I have owned is my 2019 Ford F150.
You don't really need it with automatic.
0-100kph in 12 seconds...woof
Haha like a rocket!
Not to bad for a low horsepower v8 and a 2.45 rear end!
Well, it's not that bad👍
So it has 2.45 gears? Probably for gas mileage, imagine re-gearing it.
Yes, since these cars only had a 3 speed transmission, the 3rd gear acted as an overdrive with this ratio.
i put a caddy 425 v8 in tha Chrysler LeBaron for shits & goggles!!
0:03 starter
The dash is almost identical to my 87 5th Avenue but your Chrysler ist so much faster than my 318 car 😂
Yes, the hole fifth avenue is based pf the Lebaron of the 70s!
in danger of being outrun by a 3.8 liter mustang.
I'm sure the Mustang will win
slower then slow !! ha ha
No better than the larger heavier Delta with a 307. LOL
Bad ground on the horn
I think the horn works very well! It's got a 4 tone Cadillac horn setup😃
10 seconds to 60 mph
Yes, pretty ok for being what it is!
Pero que tal gasta
You think fuel milage? It uses about 17 L/100 KM
That is pretty much the ugliest steering wheel I’ve ever seen.
chrysler engines actually had decent power figures for the time! ford was worst!
thanks for watching!
SPEEDO IS IN WRONG MEASUREMENT
Wrong to who? Where he lives they use kilometers. Maybe you live in the wrong country.

No, he must live in America and America is never wrong 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🦅 🦅 🦅 your country is wrong
