    Same track as Disneyland. Main differences are colors, the boulder, and that sick fireball.

      They need to add something like the fireball at Disneyland CA. The oft-broken log effect there is not nearly as cool. Probably my favorite difference in the one at Disneysea.

    • @CoderatheGreat
      @CoderatheGreat 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not to mention the sequence of entering through the doors is different. In California's version there's three doors (though one track) that lead to different rewards, wealth, seeing the future, and eternal youth, only to have Mara take that away when the riders look at his eyes. Japan's version just has one door and corresponding scenario.

    I went on this ride in Tokyo for the first time back in July, after having ridden the California version for years and years countless times. For me personally, the "fireball" effect at 3:14 singlehandedly puts the Tokyo version above its California counterpart.

      I was under the impression that they were not allowed to use the giant fire effects inside show buildings and that is why it was changed to the large "tornado"

    • @UrSammich
      @UrSammich 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah its nearly the same minus a few scenes changed up. Like I noticed the scene where you get shot with spears/arrows was changed. CA/FL has skeletons off to the side on the walls where I didn't see it in this version. The start only has the one entrance, where CA and FL (for the most part) still have the doors that change, depending on what you seek. Otherwise this is nearly identical.
      Also seems like there were sound issues on the ride vehicle. :/ There are some lines that Indy is supposed to say during some scenes like one I remember is "Snakes. Why does it have to be snakes!?" which usually occurs right as you hit the giant snake. Still, I imagine that it'll get fix in time.

    • @garriswh
      @garriswh 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Daniel Stempien Journey to the Center of the Earth has a pretty giant fire burst actually. The tornado effect was very cool in person though.

      It's because this ride is located in the Lost River Delta section of the park which is themed to South & Central America. It wouldn't make sense to have an Indian Temple in South America.

    I’ve gone to Tokyo Disneysea and Disneyland in California, and while I like the three door system in CA, it’s very cool that the pre-show and queue in Tokyo are set on a Prehispanic digging site, and the fireball is very ingenious. Plus it feels warm, just like the last part of Mr. Toad’s Wild ride.

  • @mintgi4136

    That ride was legendary. I just went a few weeks ago and it can’t be conveyed by the video, you gotta experience it. It’s very windy inside the tunnel and the ride was quite intense although it wasn’t exactly a ‘roller coaster’. The car was bumping here and there and felt like it was off the ground at times. You could feel the heat waves when the fire launched against you, and at some parts it was completely dark, you couldn’t even see your fingers. It was so fun

    I have to say, this is really cool, but almost the same ride as the one in Disneyland in California. There are notable differences though. This ride makes more use of black light and other lightning effects, which actually does help create a different atmosphere than the one in California. There are definitely things about this ride that outdo the one in California. I'm really liking the crystal skull idea of the temple in this ride. All in all, I think this is actually a really cool and well made ride, and I'd love to get to go on it someday. :)

    • @ZeonNewtype
      @ZeonNewtype 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      AnimeDude892 I was looking at that. That's a pretty cool idea. :) I wonder if it's just smoke or if they go the extra mile and make it heated?

    • @magyk595

      At Universal Studios in Hollywood on the Harry Potter dark ride and on the Transformers ride they use the same effect to convey fire and they blow hot air at you which they might do here as well, though they do use the same smoke projection effect on Thunder Mountain and nixed the heat fans.

While still operating very well for its age, it’s about time D-Land upped their game with a complete makeover of the CA version of the ride so that the gags and tricks either work again or are completely replaced by new ones. Thanks for the HK ride through.

      I've seen a lot of videos of this ride, and it seems like the Imagineers might've rearranged a bunch of the score for this version, leaving long moments of no music in several scenes. It's really strange and I think it does ruin the ride to not hear stuff like the theme song at the very end.

    hi, the video shows that this is a very fast ride, also there are portions that it was so dark, so i
    wasnt able to see those parts, was it just fast or there's also a sudden drop in the altitude? i love to try this, but im nervous, i can take a very fast moving ride, but if theres a sudden drop in altitude, that I can no longer take, one of the rides in disneyland is the pirates of the carribean, at first it was a slow moving ride, i was really enjoying it, but then in the middle of the ride, it went dark, then it went fast, next was a sudden drop in altitude, i asked others before i took the pirates of the carribean about it, they said its a family ride, ideal for kids, that its slow moving, just like the "Simbad of disneysea" but they didnt mention the sudden drop in altitude, and it really frightened me, i almost had a heart attack, so i will never ride pirates of the caribean again, anyway, we will be back in disneysea on the first week of january 2018, i really want to try "indiana jones adventure..." but if it includes sudden drop of altitude (even not that high) then Im afraid I cant try this, hope to hear from you soon.thank you in advance

      This is very similar to the California version, but the temple was changed to a Mesoamerican one instead of an Indian one because the Americas are more exotic for an Asian audience. That also gave Disney the chance to try out new effects to give this version a little more substance (the main chamber vortex and stone face replaced effects that hadn't worked in California's).
      As far as the name goes, this opened many years before the fourth film came out, and is similar in name only.

    I had read or heard somewhere that the reason that this version was different from Anaheim's version was due to laws & regulations in Japan regarding pyrotechnics. They couldn't use the flame effects in the main showroom of the ride, so the Imagineers had to come up with something else just as exciting.

    • @A_A610
      @A_A610 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Changes were for two reasons:
      -Lost River Delta is set in Central America. The original ride was set in India. When retheming a ride from India to Central America, things will be changed.
      -The new setting meant Disney could try out new effects to replace some of the original's problematic ones (e.g. the main room vortex replaced a falling rock effect that only operated for a short time, and the stone face replaced the less than impressive "rat cave" projection from California's).
      As far as the fire thing goes, I'm gonna say the overarching "no fire" rule isn't true because Journey to the Center of the Earth has gotten away with blasting fireballs right next to the ride vehicles for 18+ years without major repercussions. If a blanket fire ban was in place, Journey would have also required substantial redesigns.

      Tokyo was looking for a ride like California's, but because DisneySea's Lost River Delta is set in Central America, the Indian theme of Temple of the Forbidden Eye wouldn't fit in. Since the architecture and story of the temple had to be modified to fit with the rest of Lost River Delta, Disney took the opportunity to try out new effects to replace some in California's effects that weren't holding up as well as they had hoped.
      For example, California's used to have ice fall from the ceiling in the main chamber to simulate falling rocks, but the effect almost never worked and was turned off shortly after it opened. To replace that, Tokyo's now has the giant vortex that both looks better and works better than the original rock effect in California's.

  • @Rare-One

    so this WHOLE ride is just the forbidden temple" from Disneyland on California just Crystal skull themed?
    what a copout

    • @A_A610
      @A_A610 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tokyo wanted a clone of Disneyland's, but didn't want to go with the original Indian theming. The story was swapped to take place in Mexico (more exotic for primarily Asian guests), with a few updates to effects that didn't work properly on California's version.
      While it's a near clone of California's, it's still an amazing ride.

    Why are most here surprised Tokyo's ride is similar to California? Really? Why reinvent what is already a proven operational success? The average Tokyo and California attendee is rarely going to visit both parks, so it makes financial sense when a hundred million plus dollars are being spent in execution. The track route may be the same, but the queue, overall concept theming and "feel" is different enough to make a fresh, exciting adventure even if you are are like me and have ridden California's a couple hundred times. I'd dare say Tokyo's is a better: riders don't have to suffer through California's failed rat fog screen scene and disfunctional special effects that went dark after the first month of operation, and Japan's dart blowing hall looks spectacular compared to Disneyland's lame, cheap painted walls. That makes Tokyo's version a winner from the start.

    • @JGuy97
      @JGuy97 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I disagree. While Tokyo definitely has the benefit of having the mistakes of the original worked out, it has a horribly edited soundtrack. Having the music go silent from the bridge to the cave and in the boulder scene (Until it starts up AFTER the vehicle already leaves the room) is jarring, especially when you consider that it has the exact same layout and scene order as the California version.

    • @Lil_Angry_Bitch
      @Lil_Angry_Bitch 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Disneyland's version is cheaper however it is still 1000 times better than "Dinosaur" in FL, which had a $20 budget.

    • @A_A610

      Oriental Land Company wanted a ride similar to Disneyland's as part of DisneySea's opening lineup, which they got. The changes in this version largely came because the park set Lost River Delta in Central America, so Temple of the Forbidden Eye's Indian theme wouldn't work.

    • @nickg5704
      @nickg5704 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Much of the similarities exist becasue it is so much cheaper from a design standpoint to copy as much as you can from another ride. They are saving a lot of money by copying the track layout and ride vehicle and instead using their money to develop new aesthetic designs for the attraction.

      Since DisneySea's Lost River Delta is set in Central America instead of India like the original in California, some portions were modified to either account for the new setting (changing the snake from a cobra to an anaconda) or as an excuse to play around with different effects (swapping the rat cave for the smoke rings, a much better effect).
