Guitarist’s name is Adam. He’s better at making the guitar sounds like a wounded animal than anybody else.
However, the “guitar solos” in this song were actually the bass player, Justin, and done on bass. He’s pretty good at the wounded animal noises too.

Yeah, the whole song is a (maybe no so) hidden double...The Pot is a reference to drugs, he also mentions being high and to refer, which phonetically sounds like reefer, but the second layer is criticizing those who would look down on drug users, the foot in mouth line, the kangaroo court lines, waving one's finger, to be HIGH-and-mighty or arrogant, and finally the title The Pot, referring to the old saying "The pot calling the kettle black." which the chorus echos, "You pissed all over my black kettle."
So basically IMHO, "Don't criticize others until understand what you are criticizing and have taken a good look at yourself to avoid hypocrisy."

I was there. Rage Against The Machine started at noon on Main Stage, Tool was awesome but should have been on Main Stage, then Alice In Chains were second last band and they were awesome. When they were done, almost everyone left the Parc leaving only about 100 people left to watch Primus lol.

Great reaction. The song is named The Pot for a reason. I'm sure you've heard the phrase, "the pot calling the kettle black". It's about someone who is hypocritical. They accuse everyone else of doing certain things that they themselves are doing !! They just believe they are entitled to do as they please, but the rest of us have to follow rules.

I always think the pets of reactors quite funny. There you are raging away to an awesome tune and the Dog is so used to you talking to no one in the room and getting it on with a tune they cant hear (headphones), and then choose to stare at the window. We Humans are an odd but talented species.

Check out the lead singer Maynard’s other band Puscifer - The humbling river. It’s full of metaphors and you can get lost in it for sure, it’s a totally different sound than tool aside from Maynard’s unique vocal tone.

Justin Chancellor, the bassist with a hell of a setup, created a hell of a beat. That solo was all bass and the growl you hear before the breakdown with Justin and a kick ass Foxx Fuzz pedal. Intense to say the least
It's my understanding that the "kangaroo" is some politician that either picked a fight with Maynard in some way or was caught up in some web of deceit and he just had to say something. That's why Maynard is a legend.

Someone told me it’s about a DA somewhere who cracked down disproportionately hard on marijuana-related crime, locked up a lot of people for relatively benign offenses, then was later caught with marijuana (hence the hypocrisy/you must have been high/kangaroo court/liar-lawyer themes)
