It's funny how people are criticizing Naruto & Illusion of Exist. You guys aren't up there judging are you? No, you're here behind your computer screen watching this battle. Just enjoy the battle, both crews are awesome!
It's good to see originality and flavour is making a comeback. Power moves are getting old, since the majority of power heads have no musicality. It's a dance afterall.
But the ones that DO have musicality and an understanding of listening to where the music is going as well as do DIFFICULT power moves while still on beat take the dance to a whole new level. I think styleheads sometimes try to downplay that piece. I don't know why.
Style is good, but if you have excellent power control you can make the dance into an artform others cannot achieve. It is then a UNIQUE strength that is all your own and hard to be emulated without much dedication.

there are only so many power moves you can do. to me power moves are boring, no taste in them, its a show of strength. if you have a unique style, do something no1 has done, it will beat a power mover, put Pocket up againt Hong, or Roxrite.
its not about how many you can do...but how you combine and transition them...it takes style too...
this isn't a battle of who has the most UNIQUE moves....this a battle of who had the stronger performance as a whole....I can fall on my face a certain way and ppl would call that unique and creative nowadays...

people saying powermoves isn't dancing yet gypsy hits more beats than most people doing footwork.

Here's an answer, for anyone who was taking a look at the dude with his camera placed on a towel, that's a method to film a battle from many angles without the vvideo being all shakey.. i thought might as well give you a tip on how some of his videos turn out so great. (I'm not him, but i'm going to use the same method). Battle was sick
Some moves can be hit on a beat.. yes.. I aint saying powermoves can't be hit on beats.... But I am talking about those who claim to be a bboy and then on all their set, they just do either flips or powermove.. That aint dancing mate, that's just tricking or gymnastic or even freerunning.
sure the naruto dudes had some original stuff...but they need to string them together better. could be some cool shit coming out in the future. but the illusion dudes won it for me

Yeah it's about doing you own thing.. That is why it is best to combine the power moves with the floorworks and make your own move..
Doing powermove again and again is not doing your own thing, it is just doing a powermove.
You could also do variations of power just like floorwork variations. Telling someone to do something is not letting someone do their own thing.

I respect Atsuki and Assasin's style, but they truly are repeating a bit to much. I'd like to see more creativity come from them.

I mean, come on, moving your feet to the rhythm isn't everything. You have to be able to do it, but if you struggle with style, come on. People don't want to recognize how much effort it takes to learn a couple power moves and create your own set. And then do it on a hard floor in front of a crowd.

I'm just saying that moving to the rhythm is something you automatically need. It is a fundamental. Therefore there is only so much style a bboy can perform that will impress me unless you do something totally wild and original.
Don't get me wrong--Naruto was fun to watch! However, I think time on stage should be spent wisely--the same as when you speak you don't need to use excessive words, I believe when you preform a set it should also be concise--everything you wanted to say, not a lot of side blather.
I think people don't give enough respect to a short, well thought out set.

First I will say that this battle was close. Both crews tried, though I didn't enjoy how long it took Naruto to spit their shit out. Naruto's dancers are very skilled, I admit. I just felt the comments were trying to put down the other crew for being power oriented. There is nothing wrong with that!

It doesn't matter if all you do is power move or top rocks & foot work.
Doing your own thing is what makes you a true bboy.
It's dumb how people complain that all they do is either power or style, it doesn't matter. If all you do is what you do, then that is what makes you a true bboy.
Look at Cico & Pocket, for example, they are true powerheads and obviously still a bboy.
What people must do is learn their basics, like 6 step, 3 step, etc. then branch off of that.
