i'll be adding extra tips and advice as i watch so i would appreciate a pin if you believe my advice is good enough! so starting with the beginning: 3:15 shovels are amazing for intentionally forcing your raft to get stuck on islands. i would NOT recommend doing this as the raft sometimes has a way of UN-stucking itself, so if you're able to make a makeshift anchor, PLEASE do so. the shark *will not* attack your raft if you (or anyone else if you're playing multiplayer) are not standing on it. if you've done early fishing, you may be tempted to make a shark bait once you've gained access to being on an island for a while, it gives you approximately a few minutes to grab a few bits of underwater materials, mainly scrap and other rocks to make more anchors. HOWEVER, if you're patient and kill the shark and leave it mostly harvested (collecting 4 meat and leaving the head) it will give you a long time to freely explore. you can be done gathering resources on an island and be well off away from it before the shark even respawns around your raft again. 5:14 nets are an amazing thing to have but i would recommend only having nets spread out, skipping 1 tile to save the most resources. fish is generally the best way to get food throughout your entire playthrough, but at some point when you're getting to advanced cooking like soups in the late mid-game, you DO want to start farming vegetables like potatoes and melons. as for the antenna when you're ready to start the story, it's required you build your raft a bit. going up 1 floor will suffice but you need to spread out other pieces for the antenna to actually work so you need a decent area to build up for the other pieces. also the antenna needs power so a battery is required, and to save the battery as much as possible, just flicking the screen on and then back off just to check your distance to a story plot point (or other POI's on islands) is a good habit to get into. 7:15 i'm sad to inform you that parking your raft on the opposite side of the island does NOT allow you to explore freely where the reef is. you have VERY LITTLE time to do anything before the shark AI path finds towards you. do not worry though because there IS a way to defend yourself from the shark. if you perfectly time your attacks with a spear, you can actually prevent the shark's attack completely and he will just go straight through you, although this is very risky and not recommended if you can't judge distances (like me). 9:04 storage is a VERY integral part of this game and so should be the first thing you should research and start setting down. i wouldn't recommend making the scrap hook immediately. instead, go for the upgraded fishing rod as it lasts longer, as well as the second tier for storage since it has a significantly increased amount of amounts that can be stored in it. then of course more nets if you have enough materials to place more. at this point if you haven't built the antenna, you won't be progressing at all until you've actually started the story within the first plot point in the game. (i noticed you DID mention the trick with the shark respawn timer and i won't edit my own segment, but props to chat for telling you that) 12:56 the scarecrow is somewhat worth making, but the seagulls have somewhere around 10-15 seconds before they fully steal food out of your crop plots and the scarecrow can be attacked 4 or 5 times before it's completely broken (until you unlock the crafting recipe for an unbreakable scarecrow in late game, but you can just scare them off yourself if you're fast enough ( they will pluck even tree seeds if you have a tree plot or 2). i recommend if you're at an island to just wait until you harvest the crops before venturing out because unlike the shark, they could care less if you're on an island to try and steal food. to get plentiful feathers, i recommend making a nest if you've collected clams from reefs and setting them on a part of the raft you RARELY ever go to and you can go up and stab them if you're fast enough. honestly this was a bit much but you still saved me from dropping a LOT of information. excluding what i added, this was a very well done starting guide for raft. can't wait to see you play it more in the near future
Perhaps parking the raft the opposite side of the island doesn't help, but parking it like 100 meters or so from the island aka far enough that the reef isn't close does indeed stop the shark from attacking you if you first swim on the island and let the shark swim back to the raft
Just a quick tip for Dive expeditions: if you kill the Shark just loot him 4 Times for the Meat but dont loot the Trophy. If you keep something to loot in the Corpse it takes 3 mins to despawn and another 1 Min till he Respawns. So way more time to explore.
Correction, it takes the body 5 minutes to despawn and then 3 minutes to respawn. I've been using this technique for years. Guaranteed 8 minutes of shark-free diving.
Also, if you are in the water fighting the shark, as soon as he opens his mouth, if you attack him, you will get a hit on him, and you won't take damage. Work on the timing, and you can kill him easily without being touched.
Ahhh, I love raft 😊 beat it maybe 8 times and have a few hundred hours in it (on PC) lol almost done with all the achievements, tho some are incredibly grindy. Glad to see it's finally out on console!
You can fight the shark with a little bit of practice. The trick is to wait for him to lunge at you and stab him right before he bites you. This will do damage to the shark and he'll immediately veer off without you taking any damage. Once you've gotten this down you want to park your raft a good distance from islands and fight him as you head towards the island. Once you get up on land he'll head back to the raft and you're free to roam the waters around the island unmolested (provided your raft is far enough away) and he won't attack your raft while you aren't on it.
AWESOME~!! Been waiting for this release ever since I got ripped off by the ripoff THE RAFT on console. Now i can finally play the real PC Port! Thanks for the vid, Jade; Golden as always!
Always saw people play this, and couldn't wait for it to come to ps5. I got this for ps5 it's far too grindy for me and makes such slow progress, if any. I would way prefer Green Hell or Stranded deep.
Then youre doing something terribly wrong. Especially Stranded Deep is such a Slow Game (its great though dont get me wrong) but it takes Days for Prep when you start a new Game. You can get a full automatic Raft in not even 5 ingame Days. Focus on Food/Water Supply, increase your Raft to 5x5, Build a Work Bench, Build a Gardening Plot to Harvest your Potatos, craft a research Bench and Focus on the Nets which grab Stuff automatically. You should ignore every near Islands wothin the First 1 Hour
OMG, how many times do you need to say "go ahead"? It really is an unnecessary filler phrase. It is so distracting, and takes focus away from the points you're making in the video. It's usually American youtubers that say it so excessively, and I usually have to exit the video.
@JadePGC Rewatch the video. You will see how overly used it is. Sometimes it is used several times in one sentence. It is an unnecessary phrase. The sentence would still make perfect sense without it. But if you're going to take that attitude with your viewers, I will watch something else (see, "go ahead and" completely unnecessary).
@@MrQuadro83 constructive critism is fine, doesnt mean i have to sit here begging forgiveness, watch dont watch i couldnt give a shit "viewers are just normal people just like tubers" and if you deliver something snarky then i will be snarky back
@@JadePGC There was nothing snarky in my comment. I was simply pointing something out, and gave my reasoning for doing so. You actually cover a lot of the games I like, and give good tips. But the excessive use of this irritating phrase distracts from the otherwise great content. Take this criticism however you like. No skin off my nose.
I do get what you mean but doesn't make it a bad game. I've just started playing this. And it is certainly not a kids game. Difficulty wise anyway. Sons of the forest style is what you're looking for. I do admit tho I much prefer the more serious graphic style for survival games. But this game is good.
Break the the piece that the shark is biting before he breaks it and you get back half the materials. It safes in the beginning a lot

Also on the rare island with the crashed boat, you can see the captains hat on the steering wheel.. you picked up the radio but missed the hat
From watching this video, I'd say the first tip should have been to get better at casting your line to pick up resources. 😊.
Great tips as always.

Glad drift isnt just me
I can’t figure out how to repair my raft please help me
Use hammer, instead of choosing build piece scrollbto bottom as that's the repair option, 5hen start pressing rt to repair
@ thank you so much
If you stab the shark right when it opens it's mouth to attack you won't take any damage.

Why it look so cartoonish tho what happened to good survival games where it don’t look like a kids game
There's a million of them in steam, they all are crap, apart from dayz scum, etc
Cartoony doesn’t mean it’s meant for kids either, look at things like South Park or Robot Chicken

Whoomp whoomp
Then don't play it. Miss out because it's a "kids game."
