he was gonna retire after the first voyage on Titanic…it was supposed to be his final trip. So even if it made it to Christmas he would not have been on board.
Don’t forget HMHS Britannic set off for her maiden voyage as a hospital ship, a day before Christmas Eve 1915 and the nurses and Doctors and the crew onboard spent Christmas onboard the ship at sea.
The christmas 🎄 lights had never been turned on the presents 🎁 had never been opened. You could still smell the fresh Turkey . Have a lovely christmas everyone .
I always appreciate how you guys put a menorah/Chanukiah in the Strauss’s room along with the Christmas decoration, in a little nod to them being Jewish. I love it. Thank you for letting us see what Holidays would have looked like on the Titanic! ❤️🎄🕎🎄❤️ I love the Christmas decorations!!!! Thank you for bringing them to life. ❤
I wouldn't mind spending Christmas on one of these ships, would have been a magic time. Downside weather on the North Atlantic in the winter. Imagine, those decorations had a good time swaying with the sea.
It's 100% Christmas. Best time of the year. There's a magic to it that even some of the best other holidays don't quite have. Plus, the night before is my birthday, so there's some extra bias. 😅
Like one commenter mentioned before me, while growing up playing Titanic themed adventure games growing up. I always wondered what it would've been like if there was any possible way that Titanic could've avoided the iceberg and only had a tiny scratch just nearly enough for impact but not sink. While still existing to this day in today's world. But I think out of all of the holidays it would be fun to celebrate either Christmas or Fourth of July on the Titanic though. Imagine the wild fun gatherings that would've been. :D
I also still wonder what the world would've been like had Titanic struck the iceberg head on and had only suffered bow damage, but had stayed afloat and completed her voyage to New York...
If she hit that berg head on at full speed, the only difference is that she would be in one piece at the bottom of the Atlantic. And a lot less survivors.
@@mattstorage7805 Oh. So you think that a 46,000-ton ship built at the start of the 1900s, smashing into an ice rock ~32 times its mass, effectively bringing the ship to a near dead stop, is not going to warp the entire structure? Perhaps the scientific illiteracy lies with you. The fact of the matter is that the keel beam would have taken the brunt of the impact, and the entire riveted iron structure would have deformed and bent around it as she slammed to a stop. High seas alone have been known to bind early watertight doors. We need only look at the story of the Britannic to confirm this. One anchor mine explosion was enough to render all the watertight doors ineffective. And if you know anything about physics, you will easily be able to calculate that 46,000 tons coming to a stop from 20 knots in ~1 second is a much higher energy transfer to the ship's structure than an anchor mine exploding. Physics is what I do.

Olympic saw plenty of Christmases, so we can just look at what it was like in there. Titanic would've been the same. What I'd find interesting is how Christmas would've been like on HMHS Britannic. She saw one Christmas in 1915, so that'd be fascinating to see.
the 4th funnel was used to vent the engine room, kitchen, and fireplaces. although the 4th funnel didn't vent from the boilers, smoke would come from the 4th.
And also the music in christmas was mostly only the one in the christian hymn books, because Christmas was not as nearly as commercialized until 1941, 18 days after the pearl harbor attack when Bing Crosby release "White Christmas" .
I’m afraid that Titanic and Britannic will never made it to Christmas because they sunk. However, only the Olympic, Nomadic, and Traffic will made it to Christmas. So they were the only Olympic Class Vessels made it to Christmas
I AM NOT BIG ON THIS HOLIDAY, AS IT IS NOT WHAT IT'S CRACKED UP TO BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT I JUST WISH THAT WE STILL HAD ALL OF THESE GREAT SHIPS AND COULD GO ABOARD AND SEE THEM AS MUSEUM SHIPS AT ANY TIME OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I WISH THAT THE OCEAN LINER WAS STILL THE NUMBER ONE WAY TO GET ACROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If only she had a chance to see christmas at sea. Great vid as always james along with everyone else behind this project. Keep up the great work guys :)
What is the point now? Just a Titanic channel with historic videos? The Gilded Age for sure. I used to look forward to every video and now it is just contempt. All these years……demos. Reason why this channel will never hit 1 million subs.
I'm loving these videos. Stories about Titanic can be so depressing, it's nice to look at the ship from a more cheerful angle.
Captain Smith would have made a perfect Santa! Sad Titanic got a Christmas!
That's exactly what I was thinking, too! He would've been a perfect Santa!

@@ChillGuy9272 True.
@@ChillGuy9272 Probably he would have jumped in occasionally as a well honored member of the fleet
Love that! I can imagine him as Santa 🎅

Man, I have always wondered what the holidays would be like on the great liners at the turn of the century. Thank you!
Christmas aboard Olympic must have been really something.
Christmas on Titanic would be absolutely beautiful
Anyone else want to see a Christmas mod for Titanic H&G? Where all the public rooms are decked out for the holidays?
What name of God is that it's that it's at Santa
4:55 How neat that the winning decorations were by one John Frost...or 'Jack Frost'.

New Years for sure.
Or at least the Poseidon Adventure fan side of me wants that.

I went sailing recently, not on a cruise ship, but on a ferry, and they had not one, but two trees set up on board, it was nice ♥
2:45 what a shot!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas! ❤️💚

"That winter day, Titanic was all alone"
Why do i feel bad for a (unfinished at the time) ship?
I really wonder what it was like on the Olympic on Christmas!
Thumbs up awesome 👌 new subscribers here from across the pond.

We would not be talking right now as the sinking made the ship famous
Lol. Wrong. Titanic would have survived a head-on collision. You saying otherwise shows your scientific illiteracy. Oops.

Seigneur, les déguisements de l'époque devaient certainement être des restes de costumes d'Halloween ! 🫣🤡💀
I literally got a lump of coal for Christmas one year. It’s a real piece of Titanic coal. I love it.

Looks like a cursed image of Mickey Mouse.

The iceberg was only trying to warn us
It's Mini and Mickey!
Mimi and Micky
Dat cursed Mickey Mouse costume tho
I think I'd really like to experience Christmas on Olympic or Titanic. Mostly to experience all that food they made!

Yesss I love Titanic University!
2:07 man I hope this was actually a photo taken on Olympic
Are you ever going to finish the ship and P401 or just put out videos?
Idk but that was my favorite ship
Shame that Titanic never saw Christmas after she was completed
At least the SS Poseidon had a Christmas and New Year's Eve voyage before her demise. 🌊🚢
mind the new year's celebrations, the seas tend to get a bit rough around that time.

What’s with the flames in the firebox of the first class stateroom at the end? I thought it was just a grate that would have glowed red.
poor titanic during christmas
The answer is creepy mouse kids.
I am so glad that Titanic University is back!!!
When this game will be released ? Its been years now , im so excited to play the most perfect and ambicious titanic game ever!

Titanic is like me. We don't like Christmas 😅
Its amolst been 113 years and titanic wouldn't been so beautiful
I'd rather not have a mid-atlantic new years eve celebration or Christmas on an oceanliner. Might end up capsized!
Ask those people who went down there in that submarine how Christmas on the titanic went 😂
