A band I was in in the late 90s used to do a cover of the entire Abbey Road along with our originals. We played I Want You She's So Heavy at a house party at my Co-op and got so loud at the end the windows in the house were rattling...fun times. :)
I’ve gotta say, I always thought Umph was “just another jam band” until someone played me this, and it blew my freaking mind. The talent, the passion, the soul, the precision, the flair, it’s all just super top notch. One of my favorite covers of all time. Really exemplifies what excellent musicianship looks like to me.
Holy... I put this on trying to have some background music while I got some work done. I just sat here with my jaw open for 7 minutes and got nothing done. Wow. I gotta listen to more of these guys.
I found this just after I lost my mind hearing them do "Shine On You Crazy Diamond". Love how the guitarist Is true to the original but somehow adds himself to it. I want more.
***** , you got me spun around the axle with Umphrey's McGee. I've never heard them before. I'm completely fixated on this 13 part show. th-cam.com/video/i6YDBkhVMcU/w-d-xo.html
***** I was at the 1999 show the night prior - first time I had seen them live - walked away impressed as hell. Not too many bands have caught my attention in the last few years like UM. Can't wait to listen to the Abbey Road album.
I mean this is fantastic. I'm a HUGE Abbey Road fan and I'm absolutely blown away by this. So well done. Thanks for doing justice to Ringo too, btw. So impressed with this!
I know I'm incredibly late to the party but UM are rapidly becoming one of my all time favourite bands - and I still haven't heard a huge amount by them. But what I have heard...... what a band! What a groove!
Welcome! I can't properly put into words how talented these cats are. I mean I know everyone's opinion of music is subjective but no one can seriously question the sheer amazing talent of this band. They have mastered the art of playing live together in a band. They sync perfectly on every track whether ots a cover or original. Enjoy the ride!
Abby road was the best Beatles album, out of the whole lot of their masterpieces. The world so needs real music again. What you hear on the radio, isn't music. Frank Zappa.
I was today years old when I discovered this band. Brendan Bayliss was a guest on the Fab Fourum Beatles Ch.18 on SiriusXM - loved how he talked about recording in Studio 2 at Abbey Road Studios “in the corner” and how it was almost a religious experience. He said it looked just like all the photos he’d seen. 😮
I've been listening to these guys for years and just realized I recently missed them playing in Pensacola where I live. I'll never forgive myself for missing seeing these legends live.
Absolutely crushed. Even better then the few times I've seen them do it. Each player was superb. Jake's solos and that dead stop end...... Jaw on floor. Thank you UM for doing what you do.
That opening harmony check 2 seconds into the video literally shoved my pre-conceived notions and doubts about what kind of cover this would be up my ass... Holy hell was that a great performance!
I just got the London season on vinyl sounds amazing they did the hole album in 12 hours at Abby road !!!!! just amazing for a band to be able to do that truly a great band
Excellent performance all around. Best covers of this great creative Beatles piece. I wore this album out 45 years ago and it still gets a listen often.
The BEST cover out there on TH-cam Land! Nothing beats those studio walls @ Abbey Road! You guys rock! You're awesome musicians - keep up making your long time dream a constant reality! My Best, Paul Michael
It is a really great cover...they are amazing! The piano in the foreground is a Fender Rhodes electric which he played at the end. The one he played throughout most of the song is the Wurlitzer electric. That was what I owned but foolishly sold...they're worth a fortune now! Anyway, both those pianos were very popular in the seventies and are still in demand now!
Umph has the rare ability as a band to perfectly capture the essence of the original song while adding their own flair to it. all without disrespecting the original version. Their covers are top notch and it shows how amazing they are as musicians. check out some others like Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Call to Arms, Rebubula, When Doves Cry, and especially there cover of Girlfriend is Better byTalking Heads.
Please play this tomorrow night at Avondale Brewery in Birmingham. I work at one of the local restaurants in that area. I'll be working but I'll also be listening from the parking lot. Safe travels
To have the balls to attempt "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" at Abbey Road Studios and to do a killer version is simply stunning.
A band I was in in the late 90s used to do a cover of the entire Abbey Road along with our originals. We played I Want You She's So Heavy at a house party at my Co-op and got so loud at the end the windows in the house were rattling...fun times. :)
Look up John Ziegler She's so heavy outtro on TH-cam...freaken amazing. Will knock your socks off
not only that, but literally in the same room the Beatles cut (parts of) the original track in.
Dan Cervo Agree
It's flawless. Plus live, one take and no heavy overlays like the original. Unbelievable!
Kind of an unwritten rule that if you cover the Beatles, that you better do it f****** right. You do it right.
UMPHR3Y at least someone understands.
This is arguably the best and most respectful Beatles cover. Ever.
Man, I totaly agree.
They are truly great. But check out the Zoombeatles. Good as well.
If you think this is good then go see The Last Shadow Puppets cover,. they love covering Beatles

Agreed!
I can't begin to properly express how insanely awesome this cover is.
Vocals missed the mark, I think
@@steveelim you're fking high
@@steveelimreally? I disagree but maybe I'm missing something. I thought the harmonies were amazing.

Yes indeed 😊
I had the same experience.

We are unanimous in that 💯. I've heard Pink Floyd live - watching this lead guitarist put his soul into Shine On gave me goosebumps
Yeah, you haven't heard ANYTHING until you hear "Voodoo Chile" with Billy mutha fuckin Strings!
Yes, excellent observation. He is true to original but while adding something magical without disrupting the commitment to the original.
The best version of this song you’ll ever hear.

Agreed!
Okay, this is epic.
seriously rockin'!
Pretty damn great.
***** , you got me spun around the axle with Umphrey's McGee.
I've never heard them before.
I'm completely fixated on this 13 part show.
th-cam.com/video/i6YDBkhVMcU/w-d-xo.html
I did the same thing, they impressed me right away, not that long ago. I think I watched that whole show as well.
***** I was at the 1999 show the night prior - first time I had seen them live - walked away impressed as hell. Not too many bands have caught my attention in the last few years like UM. Can't wait to listen to the Abbey Road album.
This made my eyes tear up. These guys are wonderful.
I mean this is fantastic. I'm a HUGE Abbey Road fan and I'm absolutely blown away by this. So well done. Thanks for doing justice to Ringo too, btw. So impressed with this!
The keyboards throughout and Jake's guitar solo during the outro puts this cover over the top. This is one of my favorite Beatles songs, but ... DAMN!
Perfectly stated! Exactly how I feel about it. It's a masterpiece.
how does this not have MILLIONS of views?????????????

instablaster.
The ever amazing Umph nails it again. Phenomenal!
It takes balls to take on Beatles heavy numbers
You guys totally nailed this, in addition to making fantastic original material, you guys are the best cover band on the planet, bar none.
Singed is fantastic, bass is vibing, guitar killing it, drummer making it look easy; perfect cover.
The bass line is insane, just started picking up bass and didnt realize how in depth it gets
Do you mean Paul McCartney's bass line? Yeah!, it is...
Just how cool was that.

Completely paying homage to one of the greatest rock songs of all time. Nice job gentlemen!
Holy crap, did these guys do this in one take? It sounds freaking amazing!
doubt it
@@retiredfirefighter415 They actually did. They had a 10 hour slot at AR and did a live record. The London Sessions.
No live performance isn’t without some sort of Studio Manipulation….
@@Oh_I_Will Completely untrue.
@@Oh_I_Will uh, yeah, it’s called sound engineering
Such a respectful tribute by a group of uber talented guys. Gorgeous.
This is still the best cover I have seen of this song!!
I finally found a Beatles song I like. Thanks to these guys. Good job.
I've been listening to these guys for years and just realized I recently missed them playing in Pensacola where I live.
