    Great points man. Over the last few years I stuck to Maschine and Studio One. In the last year I started working with Ableton and it is great to have the tools available in all 3 working environments.

    Hey man! I've been thinking about this and how to balance focusing on my primary daw and using other daws for different projects. Thanks for the rational take it helped clear some stuff for me!

    I started using the Ensoniq Mirage, EPS, the 16 plus and ASR 10 back in the late 80's early 90's. i moved up to Qbase in 08' (didnt like it)then went to the MPC 2000 and Tascam 2488mk2 in 09' from there I went to FL Studio 10 in 2012. As of today, I use FL Studio, The EPS 16 plus and The MPC 2000 in Concert with the Tascam 2488 mk2 and Tascam DP-24sd. 4 daws at the same time all the time.

      At the end of the day we all have tools that we choose for either creative reasons or technical reasons. There's no pride nor shame in having a personal preference in tools. You definitely have some classics in your workflow fam. Thanks for the comment!

    Reason/MPC 2.0 and Studio One. I want to get into Logic but I have a bias because of how closely it aligns to GarageBand or vise-versa. I have nothing against other DAW’s but those are the ones that I use. The best DAW is always the one that lets you get your ideas out the best.

    What of the time investment in learning the DAWs, the steep learning curves of some of these? the key commands for executing tasks (memorizing all of these)....

    • @Altruwest
      @Altruwest  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you highlighted some of the learning curve, knowing all of the commands and what they do. Another major learning curve is learning all of the built in plugins/instruments and understanding how they work. A modern DAW is an entire music studio with signal processors, audio editors, instruments, audio recording, etc. Many people use a small portion of a DAW when they first start, but really learning the DAW takes some years.

    hello altruwest i have got a question
    i wanted to make g funk beat but 100% hardware : i have a mpc 3000 , a Studio electronic se 1 especially for bassline , A keyboard but i need some presets such as strings , rhodes , etc.. i was planning to buy a jv 2080 is it a good idea according to you ? or do i use an other synth for this?

    • @Altruwest
      @Altruwest  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for reaching out. A lot of the gear that you mentioned will have a very specific sound at this point so it would be good understand what era of G-Funk you like the most (Late 80s? Early 90s? Mid 90s? Early 2000s?) Late 80s to Early 90s would be more of the SP-1200 era. For the early to mid 90s you could go with a Korg M1 and a JV2080. For the Mid to late 90s you may consider a Korg TR Rack and a JV-2080 (or 2 based on the polyphony limitations). For the early to mid 2000s its a Korg Triton, Yamaha Motif and the Fantom for the bread and butter. Hopefully that helps! Let me know if you have more questions.

    i have abelton reaper and reason, i want studio one cause of it's sound, and pro tools for professional reasons, cubase cause my friends, and maybe bitwig cause its eaiser to learn, i think bitwig sounds as bad as fruity loops but is alot better interface, but i don't have much use for it, besides thats its usable, but machine i don't know about it, it looks weird to me, what does it do that reason doesn't? on top of abelton and reaper? i guess i could get it because alot of other people have it, other than that, whats so special about it? is it a daw or something else or less like how reason used to be? i missed the sale and can't see getting it unless its is, i see these machine masters people and i think scam, i just don't understand why this is so essential, when we've had daws for a long time, its like a daw that doesn't do what i need it to do, i might have to try it, but i don't understand what it does that others don't, sort of like bitwig, no room for it. altough i may be completely wrong, or would hope so.
    i was wondering your opinion on hz and tunning frequncies i can't find tutorials, on how to tune your music properly to solfeggio, i want to compose experimental and creative music in only solfeggio frequencies, my favorite sound is 528hz, 456, anything thats not 432, but i like it better than 440, my goal is to abolish 440 out of my music, but there are not very many tools dedicated to this, and lack of information, most over look, but i know its essential for what i want to do,
    what i think needs to be done for innovation is the advent of universal external cpus, to give us unlimited creative freedom of instrument combinations and effect chains. i am one of the reasons reason started working with vsts, i read their marketing statement about the values of their company, and sort of black mailed them, i could make a screen shot to prove it but i wont go that far. i'd like to see something more high def than 64 bit 24/192 at 20k kps. and have that be the new standard, i want digital music to attempt to compensate for not being hifi vinyl, the industry is reluctant to progress, its up to us to demand and push and innovate, because they are lazy, and greedy, corporations.
    i'm schizophrenic and disabled, i need help getting a job to speed my investments, i have two gimp hands, and can't go out into public because i have one blown out ear that suffers hyperacusis, i have to steal from myself inorder to beable to invest at all in music, it makes my care takers mad because they have to by food, and go hungry for music, i know my only chance is to find forms of passive income, but no one will help me, they will only encourage me to do something i specifically can't do, like get a job,
